Amazon founder Jeff Bezos married Lauren Sánchez in June 2025 at a $50 million wedding in Venice. The celebrations drew widespread attention and protests from residents, who said the city was already strained by overtourism.
Given the number of people invited to the Bezos-Sánchez wedding, protesters raised concerns, though the couple did not change the venue. The wedding was attended by celebrities including Oprah Winfrey, Ivanka Trump and Kim Kardashian and was later featured in Vogue.
Since the wedding, Sánchez told The New York Times about her morning routine, saying she has long believed she is “20 percent happier” than the average person — a feeling she said is unrelated to her marriage to one of the world’s richest men.
Speaking about their routine, she said the couple wakes up around 6 a.m. at their $230 million compound on Indian Creek, a private island in Miami often referred to as the “Billionaire Bunker.”
She said they avoid checking their phones and instead list 10 things they are grateful for each morning, making sure not to repeat items from previous days.
While the practice may seem challenging, it encourages daily reflection. The couple then heads to their sunroom to watch the sunrise and have coffee together.
Sánchez also shared details of their personal items, noting that her mug reads “Woke Up Sexy Again,” while Bezos’ mug features “HUNK” spelled using periodic table symbols. They also play pickleball and work out with a private trainer six days a week.
Their day begins in a routine manner, shaped by shared habits and time spent together. Describing their relationship, Sánchez said, “I talk about everything with him. Everything. Jeff is my best friend, and I don’t say that lightly.”
Despite ongoing media scrutiny and speculation, the couple has remained publicly supportive of each other.
