Invasion Season 3 Review
Season 3 of this epic saga is here, and a new danger lurks just over the horizon this season. A new form of alien, a cult and Aneesha, Mitsuki and Trevante battling agains the impossible to save themselves and their loved ones once and for all. After coming in contact with the mothership in the last season, Trevante and Mitsuki share some sort of connection with the aliens as the latter send a new species to take over Earth.
Continuing on its pat to understanding human emotions and decisions as they battle an alien life-form which has more complex plans than just destroying the Earth, the third season brings everything together as the humans fight one last time to reclaim their homes. The series is another character-driven narrative that consists of long, dialogue-heavy sequences. For viewers who are more into action-heavy and fast-paced shows, this is probably not the best to dive into.

As with every season of Invasion, the first few episodes can feel very heavy and boring as characters explain every small feeling in detail. I found myself disassociating at times because the narrative weaves heavily through characters and their complex emotions at being held hostage on their planet. Although humans enjoyed 2 years of peace, the turn of events at realising that there is still no peace is a terrifying reminder throughout the season.
Considering this is a character-driven show, I think the series in general insists too heavily on trying to make us understand our characters. The problem here is that we have seen these characters in many situations throughout the course of three seasons and, at this point, we already know them. Thus, focusing so heavily on them and their emotions feels unnecessary and hinders the flow of the series. I think the series required a faster pace this season because, again, we know these characters by now.

Alas, that’s not what we get. Thus, the season picks up only towards the eight episode when Aneesha, Mitsuki and Trevante finally act on saving the world instead of sitting around and plotting. The last three episodes are the most interesting as is the lore surrounding the aliens and why they behave in the way that they do. I think the series does a great job of building an interesting and engaging world for the aliens and make them a bit more complex than just taking over the world.
In the end, I think fans of the show will be a bit bored this season because you question the point of it all for quite a while. I think the characters can be a little less annoying because, after years of fighting with the aliens everyone should at least have an idea of what to expect and not fight amongst themselves needlessly. There’s also a cult this season, which is interesting. It’s an inevitability when it comes to world changing phenomenon but isn’t quite memorable in that regard.
Final Thoughts

Invasion Season 3 is fine, exploring the lore behind the aliens and taking them further. However, for a character-driven series, the characters in this series can be really immature, nonsensical and annoying sometimes. Moreover, I think the snail-like pace is finally getting to me. Either way, season 3 is fine, but also quite forgettable.
