I Wanna Dance With Somebody Trailer: The Whitney Houston Biopic We Needed!

The trailer for I Wanna Dance With Somebody is here and we are loving this biopic of one of the greatest voices in history- Whitney Houston! Directed by Kasi Lemmons, the movie stars Naomi Ackie, Stanley Tucci, Ashton Sanders, Tamara Tunie, Nafessa Williams and Clarke Peters alongside other cast members.

I Wanna Dance With Somebody brings to us the joyous and emotional journey of the life and music of Whitney Houston who is the greatest female R&B vocalist of all time. From a little girl singing in the chapel to owning some of the biggest stages around the world, the journey of the voice that stole our hearts!

The movie’s trailer shows the young Whitney being pushed to the stage when her mother is unable to perform one night, but this turned out to be the performance that brought her the spotlight. As she catches the eyes of a record producer in the audience, the journey of the young musician begins.

She then takes away the world with her powerful voice as she moves towards her dreams while singing for an audience so big that we cannot imagine. While she is seen facing criticism for her music not being “black” enough, she replies that her music is not defined by colour because she knows how to sing and that is what matters.

As we are taken through scenes of some of her epic performances and the phases of her life which couldn’t be hidden, we are promised to witness a Whitney that we never knew about. While a voice in the background speaks of how he must have just heard the greatest voice in the generation, the singer’s music once again takes over the clip.

The trailer did not fail to bring those goosebumps because this voice really steals the show and Naomi Ackie’s role as Whitney Houston really brings back memories of the singer. A wonderful trailer that only makes us eager for the movie is what was given to us.
