Happy Birthday, Dhanush! Born on 28 July 1983, he is an acclaimed Indian actor, producer, director, lyricist and playback singer who predominantly works in Tamil cinema. He has starred in over 46 films in his ongoing career and has even won four National Film Awards (two as actor and two as producer) and many other accolades in his bag.
Recently, he graced our screens in the Hollywood action thriller film The Gray Man, which stars Ryan Gosling and Chris Evans as well. Thiruchitrambalam
Thiruchitrambalam is an upcoming Tamil-language musical comedy-drama film which is written and directed by Mithran Jawahar. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner Sun Pictures. The cast of the film includes Dhanush as Thiruchitrambalam Jr. (Thiru), Raashi Khanna as Anusha, Thiru’s classmate, Nithya Menen as Shobana, Thiru’s best friend, Priya Bhavani Shankar as Ranjani, a village girl, Bharathiraja as Thiruchitrambalam Sr., Thiru’s grandfather, Prakash Raj as Inspector Neelakandan, Thiru’s father and Munishkanth.
The film’s music and score is composed by Anirudh Ravichander who is reuniting with Dhanush after six years since their last film. Two of the songs from the film have been already released with the third one on its way. The songs are titled Megham Karukatha and Thaai Kelavi. The will have a theatrical release on 18 August 2022 & will be available on Netflix at a later date.
Vaathi
Vaathi is an action drama film written and directed by Venky Atluri. The film is produced jointly by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banners of Sithara Entertainments and Fortune Four Cinemas. It is shot simultaneously in Tamil and Telugu languages and titled Sir in Telugu.
With Dhanush in the lead, it has Malayalam actor Samyuktha Menon as the female lead, playing the role of a teacher. The film is said to be an ambitious & heartwarming journey of a common man and also includes Sai Kumar and veteran Tanikella Bharani in prominent roles. The first look of the film has been released by its creators on social media.
Naane Varuven
Naane Varuven (which loosely translates to - I myself will come) is a Tamil-language film written and directed by Selvaraghavan. This film marks the reunion of director Selvaraghavan and his brother, Dhanush, after a period of 10 years. Their last film together was Mayakkam Enna (2011).
Dhanush will be seen as a cowboy and will be playing dual roles, one, as a protagonist and the other, as an antagonist in this film. Other cast members include Prabhu Ganesan, Yogi Babu, Indhuja Ravichandran, Shelly Kishore, Elli AvrRam and others. Although, a specific release date has not been revealed but expected to be released theatrically in the month of September.
Captain Miller
It is an upcoming period film set against the backdrops of the 1930s-40s and will be released simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The film is said to be made on a grand scale with a high budget compared to other films. It is written & directed by Arun Matheswaran (Rocky, Saani Kaayidham) and produced by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan.
And the announcement news created a new record in Tamil cinema by becoming the first-ever announcement video to garner over 5.5 million cumulative views in a matter of just 24 hours. With Dhanush in the lead and being presented by Sathya Jyothi Films, the expectations are huge. The release date hasn’t been revealed yet.
