After a shocking face off in the last episode, Eun-pyo and Chun-hui are both in deep thought thinking about their next move. Eun-pyo calls the other moms to learn about their thoughts on the matter and after setting up a time to meet them, meets Yun-ju. The latter remarks sadly that Su-in was a happier kid before they moved here – she regrets the move and expresses how heartbroken she is. They then go to meet the other members of the mom group who try to play the neutral party but Eun-pyo realises that she has to step up her game if she wants her son to get the respect that he deserves.

Meanwhile, Chun-hui desperately tries to keep blaming Dong-seok and put Yu-bin in a better position. Eun-pyo, too, feels the weight of Dong-seok being a goofy child and in spite of him being much more accomplished than everyone else, he continues to face discrimination. She takes it as a personal insult and decides to send her son to the Math Olympiad. That requires her to start studying herself but she’s glad when Dong-seok seems to enjoy studying as well. She ropes Yun-ju into her plan as well.

On the other hand, Yeong-mi has things to think about, more importantly, she thinks about what Jin-ha’s housekeeper told her the day she went to visit. The fact that her husband met Jin-ha almost four times a week is news to her but what really takes the cake is when she learns that Gun-wu went to meet Jin-ha the night before she died. Her suspicions get the best of her and she rummages through his stuff to find a black box tucked away somewhere.

Inside, there are strange pictures and drawings, including one of Jin-ha and a lipstick stain. There are other odd things inside, along with Jin-ha’s cardigan that Yeong-mi remembers her wearing. She is shocked and taken aback by the revelation.

In the 28th Korean Mathematics Competition, Yu-bin is absolutely annoyed that Dong-seok and Su-in are taking the test. The habit comes from Chun-hui, who asks Eun-pyo the exact same question – are they following Yu-bin? It’s almost hilarious how delusional they both are. Eun-pyo thinks the same and gives Chun-hui a piece of her mind. After the tests are done, both mothers wait with bated breath for the results – as both check the results, Eun-pyo looks rather pleased while Chun-hui looks like she just got to know of someone’s tragic death. We later learn that Dong-seok came in first and Su-in won gold medals.

It’s an air of celebration at Yun-ju’s home as everyone gets together to celebrate the children’s successes. Meanwhile, the other mothers wonder whether Yu-bin was lying about the assault afterall. Things are about as well as they can be at Chun-hui’s place. Yu-bin is crying her eyes out and Yeong-bin is inconsolable as well. Later that night, Eun-pyo, along with all the other mothers, go out for a customer satisfaction seminar at one of their tuition centres.

In the meeting, the Director writes down everyone’s scores and Yeong-bin, with 84.2%, has come last. He says that he’s going to kick him out soon, which puts Chun-hui in a very uncomfortable spot. Even more embarrassingly, Dong-seok will be taking Yeong-bin’s place and then he asks Chun-hui to leave the meeting. Chun-hui, humiliated, waits for Eun-pyo in her car, and confronts her before she can get into her car. She asks her how Eun-pyo got to know about the place and she tells her that the Director personally called her to join.

Chun-hui, angry now, asks her how she could betray her. However, Eun-pyo tells her that that’s exactly what she did to her and that she isn’t done being angry yet. She will get back the pain that Eun-pyo felt after she was betrayed. Eun-pyo leaves after that and joins her family for karaoke. After some fun, Man-su goes off to meet Chun-hui, making excuses that his boss called him out. The conversation goes as well as you can imagine – it’s downright awkward and just weird. It turns out that she was the one who stole the medicines from the hospital and blamed it on Man-su.

Afterwards, she again acts cold towards him and asks him to forget the encounter since it was done out of sadness and drunkenness. Chun-hui pulls out all stops and, later, decides to bribe her way to get her kids into the gifted academy but learns that the price of fourth-graders is different than first graders. Meanwhile, Dong-seok and Su-in get awarded for their amazing performances but Eun-pyo looks to further her child’s education.

Chun-hui gets more desperate for money as everyone around her asks her to stop wasting money on her children. Frustrated, she decides to get back into her side business. Meanwhile, Louis finds out that Chun-hui had met his wife the night that she died while Chun-hui meets with a client to give her a dose of propofol but before she can get into it, someone bangs on the door.

Final Thoughts: Green Mothers Club Episode 9

What kind of tale is Green Mothers Club spinning?! You know, I thought Chun-hui was selling prescription drugs or something but I would never have imagined seeing her injecting people with drugs which causes people’s consciousness to decrease and whatnot. I mean, it cannot be a good idea which, obviously, anyone can tell you.

Either way, I enjoyed this episode a lot. Seeing Chun-hui’s ego shatter is quite satisfying but I feel bad for Yu-bin and Yeong-bin. These are kids who are under so much pressure all the time that they are, obviously, snapping. It’ll be interesting to watch what steps, if any, Chun-hui will take to address her daughter’s declining mental health. Meanwhile, I love seeing Eun-pyo stop being a doormat and take matters into her own hands. Smarter still is her simply guiding her son’s positive points and giving him a positive outlet. Let’s hope she doesn’t go down the tiger mom path.

However, I am most interested to watch what Yeong-mi’s husband’s deal is. I think we have established that he isn’t a good guy. However, did he have anything to do with Jin-ha’s death after Chun-hui (consensually) drugged her? Can it be that he was annoyed at not being able to meet her the night before and after a scuffle with the already disillusioned Jin-ha, she toppled over the window? I am also quite annoyed with Man-su. That guy really needs to put his family first. I have a sneaking suspicion that Yun-ju will get to know his dirty secret soon.

Predictions aside, I am truly waiting for some answers, which, hopefully, will be here soon!
