Wednesdays are never complete without SEVENTEEN’s rib-tickling self-made variety show, and the latest entry, i.e. GOING SEVENTEEN Episode 66 (GOSE) holds all the proof you need for this statement to be justified. The previous episode started off with the team playing a skit as the employees of a company heading out for an outing. However, it brought forth a breathtaking plot twist at the end, revealing that the first few episodes of the web series’ new season are actually meant to be a continuation of their much-loved chapters of the ‘Don’t Lie’ series.
Signed under PLEDIS Entertainment (now a subsidiary of HYBE Labels), the thirteen members of the group – S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino – are well known for pulling out their most entertaining sides for this particular set of episodes. The ‘Don’t Lie’ series is a sequence of the group’s variety show wherein the members play a game of ‘Mafia’. Particular players are secretly picked out to play the roles of the Doctor, the Mafia(s), and the Police, while the remaining majority fits in as the citizens.
Throughout the course of the game, the Mafia(s) choose players to be killed off, while, during the Doctor’s turn, he opts to save one of the members quietly. All while this is happening in secret, the Police gets the chance to confirm the identity of some of the players in order to identify the Mafia(s) before time runs out.
Meanwhile, the citizens also make their guesses to narrow down the ones leading as Mafia(s). Even if one of the Mafias is identified correctly by the end of the game, the citizens (the Doctor and the Police are also included in this lot) win, but if things work out in the favour of the killers, they win instead. In addition to the pre-exiting standard rules of the game, what makes SEVENTEEN’s edition all the more interesting is the fact that their crew keeps introducing newer roles into the mix, and spicing it up even more.
Till now the hilarious variety TV series, available for free on the K-pop boy group’s official YouTube channel for streaming, has brought forth three seasons of this particular game series, making today’s game the surprising fourth addition to the list. These ‘Mafia’ game episodes are especially loved by the fans of the group, known as CARATs, because each member of the band is as competitive as the other, and it makes way for the ultimate chaotic moments that leave not only the audience rolling on the floor, but the artists themselves too (quite literally in Hoshi’s case).

Up until now, each instalment of the ‘Don’t Lie’ series has put members Hoshi and Mingyu at loggerheads as the former always either ends up suspecting the latter as the Mafia, or gets him caught in his web of lies (a small Spider pun, if you will) if he’s filling in for the Mafia role himself. As of now, the final moment hasn’t been reached, so the game is yet to be concluded. Anyway, the confusions and the mess created by these two members is just the tip of the iceberg, there’s a lot more in store, which is why you should tune into the show and experience a surge of your weekly serotonin levels.
Here are some of the memes captured by CARATs after today’s episode. They’re having a riot and just can’t stop laughing out loud at the antics of their favourite thirteen all-rounder K-pop artists, who might as well be comedians at this point.
