Girl From Nowhere: The Reset Episode 3 Recap

The third episode introduces two students, one of whom is Jamie, a famous influencer at the school, and he has a dog named Hong. The other kid is Hongtae, a boy who barely has friends. He is the type to spend his time alone, and he hates Jamie so much that he also posts hate comments. Although Jamie has done nothing to Hongtae, the latter still hates him. The reason? Because Jamie’s content reaches a wider audience, and Hongtae’s doesn’t.

Nanno appears at school, but nobody knows why. Initially, we think she is there to attack Jamie, but her reason is to humble Hongtae. Hongtae becomes mad when his mom decides to watch Jamie’s stream instead of his own. When Hongtae learns that Jamie’s dog is a female, he takes a picture of Jamie holding his dog and accuses him of sexually abusing the dog.

Hongtae starts gaining followers out of this, and he believes this is key to his success. Hence, he creates many fake accounts and spreads hate on Jamie, causing people to hate the good guy. Jamie keeps blocking all the accounts, but Hongtae doesn’t stop. The hate kills Jamie’s fame, and he even once ends his livestream due to the hate comments. Hongtae feels amazing as his follower count rises. However, at school, Hongtae is still the kid that nobody cares about.

Jamie is highly supported by his classmates, including Nanno. Hongtae keeps posting the hashtag #BanJamie to kill his vibe, but a whole new group raises a #SaveJamie hashtag. The battle grows, but Jamie keeps winning. To end him for good, Hongtae digs into Jamie and learns that Jamie didn’t adopt his dog but bought it. Hongtae shares about it, and he uses this against Jamie.

Jamie skips school as people start accusing him of lying. Nanno, however, intervenes and tells everyone that the person behind hating Jamie is an account called Pang_Stop, and Hongtae fears her as he believes everyone might find out that it is him. Hence, he rushes to delete the account, but he gets a photo message showing his school desk with his username on it. However, he checks and finds Nanno is the one who is in his account.

Nanno uses the moment to talk to Hongtae, and she confuses him by saying Jamie is a bad person and more of him must be exposed. This makes him work more on killing Jamie’s reputation and taking this to her advantage. Nanno reveals to the whole class that Hongtae is behind all the fake accounts. His phone buzzes with people’s texts and followers unfollowing him. Hongtae’s hate only made Jamie more famous, and he reached 500k followers.

The episode comes to a conclusion with a strong message that online anonymity does give people a temporary power, but once they’re exposed, they become weak. Towards the end, we see Sky, who seems to be searching for Nanno in the online battle, and has finally found her. He tells “For now,” indicating he is in search of her and will soon find her in person.

Girl From Nowhere: The Reset Episode 3 Review

Episode 3 is key to learn how negative actions on social media can cause huge chaos. A boy’s jealousy and insecurity push him to destroy another kid’s whole life, but when the truth comes out, it is his life that crumbles into pieces. The online battle version was really realistic, and with the hate comments mercilessly posted behind, most of the influencers will actually relate to it.

The episode’s message is really stronger, showing how even someone’s hate can become a good person’s victory. Given Jamie’s followers increased once the truth about Hongtae came out, we take away a message that even if the good people face many struggles, in the end, they win.
