Gangnam B-Side Episode 4 Recap

Gil-ho arrives at Club Hyena to save Jae-hee but right before he goes in, he comes across Seo-jin’s text telling him to cut a deal with her and informing him about the trap. However, he goes up with Psyche anyway, while having a chat with Seo-jin on the elevator. However, when Yoon-seo puts on a show for Gil-ho, he is disappointed to see Seo-jin walk in, spoiling his “surprise”. It also turns out to not be Jae-hee, just some other girl who was being used as a trap.

Later, Dong-woo, Gil-ho and Seo-jin meet up at the arcade and the three discuss why Joon-seo murdered Jung-hwa. Gil-ho fills them in on all the shocking secrets of Gangnam’s underbelly, which leaves them stumped. Meanwhile, Joon-seo asks Joo-il to control Seo-jin and Dong-woo but Joo-il, in turn, tells him to get the video from Jae-hee before it’s too late for all of them. Elsewhere, Dong-woo and Seo-jin get Moon Chul-sung onboard to circumvent the prosecution office problem and although he refuses to participate at first, a little nudge of removing the competition helps to pique his interest.

As the investigation starts, Joo-il is left flustered as he realises he’s going to be in trouble while the gang get together at Jang-ho’s to work on finding Jae-hee. Meanwhile, Seo-jin is left stunned when she finds the Inspector General in Joo-il’s office and things become clear that all of her efforts have gone in vain. Meanwhile, Gil-ho and Jae-hee realise that Joon-seo has beaten their friends up and they gear up to go to the Colosseum to get them out.

After everyone finds a way to get inside, Joon-seo beats Jae-hee up and presents her in front of Gil-ho, who has entered the ring to fight. The sight of her bloody and bruised incites him further but before things get out of hand, Dong-woo and the others break in to stop the madness and Joon-seo makes a run for it. Unfortunately, Psyche ditches Joon-seo in front of Gil-ho, who proceeds to beat him senselessly. However, Dong-woo stops him just before he is about to murder him and informs him that they found Jae-hee alive.

Later, while Jae-hee rests under Dong-woo’s supervision, Seo-jin finds Joon-seo murdered in his hospital room and soon after, all of the stuff in her office is taken away by the Inspection Department. She furiously questions Joo-il, who simply dismisses her and questions her regarding her dead witnesses, leaving her in a bind. Meanwhile, Dong-woo gets a phone call from Ye-seo but, it turns out that she has been kidnapped and the game has just started.

Gangnam B-Side Episode 4 Review: Jung Ga-ram, Ji Chang-wook

Whether it be Ji Chang-wook’s fantastic performance or the fact that the series finally delivers a good twist, the Disney+ miniseries has finally picked up the pace. Crisp and fast-paced, episode 4 gives us enough to hold on till the next episode while also finishing off the first half of the series neatly. I was almost disappointed that the series will drag on with the simple story, but thankfully, there’s more here than meets the eye and one can’t help but be thoroughly thrilled to figure out who the real villain is behind all of this!
