Fairy Tail 100 Years Quest Episode 1 Review And Recap

Watching Fairy Tail after so many years and witnessing the banter between friends was a healing experience. I don’t know how much non-fans will like Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest but for fans, who grew up watching these mages go on wonderful adventures, this was an absolute treat.
The episode begins with new recruits joining the Guild which is also the strongest Guild ever. However, not all of them are actually talented or brave enough to become a member other than one woman, Touka. But she is a complete duplicate of Juvia as she is very much obsessed with Natsu. Her love is similar to that of a fangirl and on the very first day, she butts head with Juvia because of their like-minded characteristics.

Nut Natsu, Lucy, Erza, Wendy, Gray, Happy and Carla are nowhere to be seen inside the Guild. Apparently, they are on a very important mission which is called the 100-year quest. This is a difficult mission that Guildarts attempted and failed to complete. Not only that, but it is so challenging and dangerous that he lost some of his body parts and couldn’t come back unscathed.
When Natsu and company reach the guild that has commissioned this quest they find out more about the whole mission. The Guild is called Magia Dragon and it is the very first Guild ever made. The Grand Master of this guild is an interesting fellow who further reminds the group of all the risks that they can come across.
The first episode of this anime was a nostalgic journey as it reminds you of the good old days. The animation is pretty good and we can expect some good action sequences from this studio. Other than that, the music is also very nostalgic and yes we do get the iconic fairy tale tune as well. Plotwise, it is still too early to say how the whole season will turn out, but as of now, it seems decent enough.

Verdict
The trademark Fairy Tail comedy and the fanservice are apparent here as well, something that I have no complaints about. As a fan, I love this episode and would urge you to watch it. Even if you have no idea what this anime is about, things are explained pretty nicely for you to enjoy.
