Climax Episode 8 Recap

After getting the support of Yang-mi, the next thing that Tae-seop must do to secure his position is get rid of his competitor. Thus, he starts digging up dirt on Son, who is standing opposite him in the presidential election. Thankfully, he manages to get some information against him and uses that to meet a man who can help him out. At first, the man refuses to help Tae-seop because he doesn’t want to betray his benefactor. Later, we see Sang-ah going for a script reading when Jeong-won arrives as well. There is clearly some tension between them.

Sang-ah definitely felt threatened by the popularity of Jeong-won, who got the role very easily. Sang-ah even asked her what her relationship is with the director. Here, Jeong-won confronts Sang-ah for her manipulative behaviour, asking whether she thought that she would be able to use Jeong-won the same way she did her past bodyguard. When the shooting happens, there is a scene where they both make out, and Jeong-won tries to kill Sang-ah. In this scene, it looked like Jeong-won actually wanted to kill her, which was being witnessed by Yang-mi.

After this, Jeong-won invites Sang-ah for dinner, to which she agrees. Tae-seop sees that, according to voting polls, he has become quite popular, and there is a legitimate chance for him to win. While he was celebrating, he got an unknown call, where he got to know that Jeong-won is actually being blackmailed into doing what she is doing. In the meeting between Sang-ah and Jeong-won, Jeong-won confessed that she had gone to kill her bodyguard. But we get to know that he was already dead by that time.

While getting out of the hotel, she was captured by Yang-mi’s men. We get a sense that Sang-ah and Jeong-won might have hooked up after this. The guy who constantly stays with Jeong-won tells Tae-seop to help Jeong-won out. On the other hand, Tae-seop is really trying his best to expose Son’s past. He also slips proof of his crimes to a journalist, and the day of the final election result finally comes. The journalist also waits for this day to expose Son.

Not only that, but countless videos get released at the same time, just to confirm Son’s defeat. Similarly, Yang-mi executed her plans on that very same day. She claimed that she would make Tae-seop come to her on his knees, and that is when we see a video getting posted. This creates utter chaos amongst everyone. The video is none other than a full-on sex tape, which most likely had Sang-ah and Jeong-won on display.

I kind of realised that things might go this way towards the end of this episode, and it became exactly that. I was also thinking that Yang-mi might use the relationship between Jeong-won and Sang-ah for her benefit, and she did that in the end. Now, things can only go downhill, and it is clear that the presidential election might not be won by Tae-seop anymore.

Though Tae-seop is not directly involved with this controversy, he will definitely be affected because it is his wife who got exposed. I’m definitely way more interested now to see what will happen in the next episode and how both leads will be able to come out of such a situation.
