Climax Episode 3 Review: Cha Joo-young

The episode begins with Tae-seop hearing his wife talking to the Chairman about a past history that he doesn’t know of. It becomes clear that she and the Chairman were involved with Jae-sang, and something had happened between them because of which she now seeks the Chairman’s help to keep him from destroying her life. The Chairman clearly mentions that he does not care about Jae-sang anymore, and it is Sang-ah who has much to lose. After listening to these things, Tae-seop goes to secure his position with his new ally, Jong-wook, seeking a presidential election.

There, he meets Yang-mi, who also comes to see just what Tae-seop is up to. After hearing that he now plans to run for election, she became excessively mad at him and told him to come outside so that she could have a chat with him. There, she mentions how he should not try to cross her as she’s the one who rules everything. She also reminded him that politicians and celebrities believe reputation is their biggest asset, and once it gets tossed publicly, they can never go back. She also threatened him with Sang-ah and even stressed that Tae-seop himself doesn’t know his wife very well.

This admission might be true because later we see that Sang-ah is even involved in a murder. Following this, we see a story where it is revealed that Sang-ah used to have Jae-sang as her bodyguard, who killed her company’s CEO. Now the mystery is whether the bodyguard killed him alone or had been told to do the murder by Sang-ah.

A YouTuber has made a whole video out of it and is planning to defame Sang-ah based on that. This guy is also in touch with Jae-sang, and both of them plan to expose Sang-ah because Jae-sang had always been in love with her, and she only manipulated him to get him to work for her. Even this plan gets exposed to Tae-seop.

However, this does not mean that Sang-ah can actually wholeheartedly believe in Tae-seop because he, too, is very self-centered. Yes, he loves her very much, but at the same time, he is very ambitious. We get to see that the YouTuber had always been working for Yang-mi, and he gets his hands on incriminating evidence from Jae-sang. Just when the YouTuber was finishing up the script that would harm Sang-ah, Tae-seop comes in and completely thrashes both of them.  In this segment, we get to see another important character called Ji-soo.

Apparently, she had been an actress who absolutely detested doing love-making scenes. But here, there was a massive twist: Ji-soo and Sang-ah were actually lovers and not just friends. Everything changed one night when the CEO called Ji-soo to sleep with some higher-ups. Ji-soo runs away from that place, but she is captured and brought back. Later, we see Sang-ah going to the CEO with a knife in her hand. She then stabs him to death. This is where the episode ended.

I really like this episode because the twist was absolutely unexpected. I did not think that they would go for such an unpredictable route and completely change the perspective of the whole series. I am definitely enjoying this way more now because of how shocking it is going to be from now on.
