Can This Love Be Translated Ending Explained: Joo Ho-jin, a multilingual interpreter fluent in Korean, English, Japanese, and Italian, finds himself challenged when he is assigned to impulsive celebrity Cha Mu-hee, sparking an emotional relationship that changes the course of both of their lives.

The series has 12 episodes, each with a runtime of around 50 minutes.

The series follows the deep but unresolved feelings between reserved interpreter Ho-jin and free-spirited but haunted celebrity Mu-hee, who both fall deeply in love as they coincidentally bump into one another through different circumstances. They first meet in Japan out of the blue and become quickly acquainted, and then he becomes an interpreter in a dating reality show that she is a part of with Japanese actor Kurosawa Hiro.

Throughout these interactions, they share their fears, happinesses, and traumas, falling deeper and deeper for each other without even knowing it. However, they both misunderstand one another over and over again, due to their very different styles of self-expression, while hiding their emotional risks and vulnerabilities.

However, by the last episode, they are both forced to confront their inner truths that they had so far avoided.

Who is Do Ra-mi?

Ra-mi represents all of Mu-hee’s anxieties that have made her who she is after being abandoned in her childhood. Thus, she decided to leave everything that made her happy and build a wall around herself so that she would never be hurt again. Thus, Ra-mi used to “come out” from within Mu-hee whenever she was in any uncomfortable situation that she was unsure of.

The same can be said for Ho-jin, who has his own insecurities and walls due to past trauma. The two of them continue to let these feelings overcome the truth in my mind and push each other away, fearful that they will be hurt again.

Later in the runtime, in a shocking twist, we learn that it’s Mu-hee’s terrifying childhood that has left a deep scar in her heart – her father didn’t want to marry her mother, and she, as revenge, tried to kill them all in a murder-suicide attempt. Afterwards, she was adopted by her uncle and aunt, and told that her parents had died, but that was also not true. At the end of the attempted murder, her mother tried to kill her too, but she tried to escape and fell off the balcony.

Thus, when she had her accident at the beginning of the series, it brought back all of those memories and triggered Ra-mi’s existence – a representation of her mother who looks just like her.

What is the media scandal about?

Mu-hee gets roped into a media scandal when a resurfaced post on social media about Ho-jin comes back to haunt her, claiming that she’s in a relationship with a married man, Kim Yu-jin, which is completely untrue. Thankfully, it’s cleared up very quickly, and Ho-jin is by her side throughout the runtime.

What happens in the end?

In the aftermath of a shocking media scandal, Ho-jin and Mu-hee overcome their problems together and come out stronger than ever. Despite lingering uneasiness and anxiety, the two stay happily together. She eventually decides to meet her mother to bury this portion of her life once and for all and move on with a fresh slate.

Months later, the two reunite with a kiss under the stars.
