Barbarians Season 2 Trailer has been released by Netflix which shows that the fight for independence is not over yet. It is a German historical war drama series created by Andreas Heckmann, Arne Nolting and Jan Martin Scharf, first released in 2022.
It is a fictional account of events during the Roman Empire’s occupation of Germania, where torn between the mighty empire that raised him and his own tribal people, a Roman officer’s conflicted allegiances lead to an epic historical clash.
Starring Laurence Rupp as Arminius, Jeanne Goursaud as Thusnelda, David Schütter as Folkwin Wolfspeer, Bernhard Schütz as Segestes, Nicki von Tempelhoff as Segimer, Ronald Zehrfeld as Berulf, Eva Verena Müller as Irmina, Nikolai Kinski as Pelagios, Valerio Morigi as Metellus, Gaetano Aronica as Varus, Urs Rechn as Kunolf the Brukteer and many others. They are joined by exciting new characters, portrayed by Daniel Donskoy, Murathan Muslu, and Cynthia Micas.

The official synopsis of the new season reads, “A year after Varus’ defeat, a new Roman general gets settled in Germania as Ari seeks to become king of all the tribes — but a rival stands in his way.” One year after the Varus Battle the Roman troops have returned to Germania, stronger than ever, and Ari is confronted with his Roman past once more.
His brother has joined the Roman side in order to punish Ari for his betrayal of Rome. While Thusnelda and Ari join forces to unite the tribes against Rome, Folkwin ominously challenges the gods. In season 2 Stefan Ruzowitzky will be directing episodes 1-3 & 6 and Lennart Ruff will direct episodes 4-6. Produced by Andreas Bareiss, Sabine de Mardt, Rainer Marquass and Stefan Ruzowitzky.
The trailer shows that it has been a year of peace and healing and new legions are coming but the threat of Rome attacking soon looms. Even after uniting the tribes, they might fall short of men. That’s when new alliances come into place, where Marbod joins hands to fight together but can new friends be trusted?
