Nancy Sinatra Backs Obama After Blasting Trump for Exploiting Her Father’s Legacy

85-year-old singer Nancy Sinatra is the eldest daughter of Frank Sinatra and is best known for her song “These Boots Are Made for Walkin.” She is, to date, confident about who she doesn’t like. So after President Donald Trump posted a video of Frank Sinatra singing “My Way” to Truth Social with no caption on April 19, an X account tagged Nancy in the post.

It was already predicted that she would “not be happy” because Frank “was a big champion for equality and supported the Civil Rights movement.” To that, Nancy replied by saying, “This is a sacrilege.” She also posted another article that labeled Trump a “loser” and a “monster,” adding that Frank “would never have allowed” his music to be used in this way.

Nancy has been openly critical of Trump for years. In a 2021 interview with The Guardian, she swore that she would “never forgive” anyone who backed him. She said, “I have an angry place inside of me now. I hope it doesn’t kill me.”

Except, the very next day, Nancy logged back on to social media to offer some praise.

She retweeted a post by former President Barack Obama on April 20 regarding his visit to a Learning Through Play Pre-K in the South Bronx. Obama and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani met for the first time and visited the facility. There, they led a sing-along of Wheels on the Bus after reading a picture book called Alone and Together to the preschoolers.

In exchange, the children taught Obama and Mamdani the song “Soda Pop” from the movie K-pop Demon Hunters. In his post, Obama made a joke about how the kids “made the mayor feel really old.”

“You are the best, Mr. President,” Nancy Sinatra wrote as the current president is using the music of a late legend on a platform that he co-owns. On the flip side, a previous president is sitting with a group of four-year-olds and singing about a bus.

Obama and Mamdani also talked about Mamdani’s policy visions for New York City, which included pushing for free childcare for all. On the other hand, Obama and his wife, Michelle, have been running a production firm, Higher Ground, since 2018, mostly thanks to an agreement with Netflix. Now, the company is moving toward an independent model, Deadline reports.

Nancy often criticizes Trump for what she sees as the exploitation of her father’s image. Considering Frank Sinatra supported civil rights and got along with everyone from JFK to Sammy Davis Jr., which side do you think he would be on today?
