Phantom Lawyer Episode 4 Recap

The episode begins with the priest talking to Yi-rang’s mother about why she came to Yi-rang’s office. He also revealed that he came to Yi-rang’s office because he wanted to find the reason Yi-rang is able to see Loanne. After that, we see Yi-rang and Na-hyeon spending some time together, and Na-hyeon bandaging Yi-rang’s hand after he goes through the accident to save her. Na-hyeon asks him why he was at the building, and he makes up an excuse that she does not believe in.

Later, Loanne asks Yi-rang whether he likes Na-hyeon or not, and he just deflected the question. He also asked her why she ran after her music coach, and she revealed that his phone ringtone was the last thing she heard when she died. Then, after he reached home, he found something very important. Yi-rang logged on to the account of Loanne’s phone and saw that her phone was still with the music coach, Ko. He then goes to his house and sees him using Loanne’s songs for his own benefit.

He also realises that Ko might try to kill Emma because she also knew about Loanne writing music on her phone. And apparently, he got help from Abel, who had reasons to hate Loanne. Yi-rang then goes to meet Emma to tell her that she is in danger. But that is when we get to know that it is Emma, who is the villain and also the one who conspired against Loanne. Yi-rang anticipated this, so he managed to get her off guard meticulously.

When she got caught, Emma revealed how she had always been very jealous of Loanne’s success. Then it also becomes clear that it is she who pushed Loanne, which was witnessed by Ko. Because of profiting from Loanne’s songwriting, Ko also became a co-conspirator, and that is how he got involved with Emma.

The episode becomes very emotional towards the end because we get to know that Loanne’s mother is actually losing sight and wanted to meet her daughter before that could happen. Thus, as a last wish from Loanne, Yi-rang gives her eyes that she donated to her mother. On the other hand, Yi-rang’s mother is also trying to actively search for the shaman who used to live in the office apartment before. Na-hyeon also corners Yi-rang to know who actually helped him throughout the case. He tells her it is through ghosts, and she leaves him after not believing him at all.

In the end, we see Yi-rang completely accepting his role as a phantom lawyer.

I liked today’s episode and appreciate the sad tone we got in the end. The actors are also doing a great job of playing their characters in a very genuine manner.

Though the story is not very extraordinary, the end product is entertaining enough.
