Still Shining Episode 5 Recap
Episode 5 begins with a flashback. In 2018, Tae-seo helps in renovating Eun-a’s home after her dad Mr. Mo dies and she is no where to be seen and reached out. Tae-seo looks at one of her photos and wishes she’s happy wherever she is. Back in the present, Tae-seo meets a tearful Eun-a and walks her to her so-called apartment. She’s temporarily staying at Ho-sik’s place. However when a fight erupts between Ho-sik’s wife and Eun-a, the latter walks out of the apartment and Tae-seo who has been hearing all those, patiently grabs Eun-a’s suitcase and walks down.

Eun-a tries to stop him but Tae-seo tells that he’s just helping a friend and she’d have done the same. He takes her to his apartment and asks her to rest. It is then she reveals that she has someone in her life but they’re on a break. Tae-seo doesn’t ask much about it but simply lets her rest. The next morning as she leaves, he prepares for a break so she can rest at his place. When Eun-a returns in the afternoon, he tells her to use his space for the next two days as he is visiting his grandparents.
It is then he asks about her boyfriend and she reveals she broke up with him because a part of her knows her heart belongs to someone else. In those two days, Eun-a rests well and proceeds with her work while Tae-seo spends time with his family at his hometown. When he returns, he sees a thank you note from Eun-a and a piece of his heart feels numb.

Elsewhere, Eun-a returns to Ho-sik’s place and his wife and she have reconciled. They drink together and the couple advice Eun-a to not blame So-hyeon for Mo’s death. However she tells she wants to blame the woman so she won’t feel guilty. The next day, Eun-a calls Seong-chan, her boyfriend and breaks it up. He asks her to meet up and she bids farewell. We learn that they hardly dated for a few months and she confesses she did like him because he stayed beside during her hard times.
But it’s evident, she was just thankful and reciprocated his feelings as he has always liked her. He painfully lets her go and Eun-a returns to Tae-seo’s apartment. Tae-seo who started to enter his depressive era post seeing Eun-a, notices her luggage at his place. Meaning, she’s coming back. Later one evening, as Eun-a comes to his apartment, a sleepy Tae-seo holds her hand and pulls her into his embrace and they cuddle to sleep.

Still Shining Episode 5 Review
Uhm, I just don’t understand what’s going on but hopefully it makes sense soon. Why did Eun-a even break up with Tae-seo and end up with Seong-chan? Seong-chan was already an adult when he was eyeing a young teenager Eun-a. Ew? And it’s so sad that Tae-seo’s character is written in a way where he never had his eyes on anyone. So does that make Eun-a bad or is it purposefully done to shade a woman’s feelings? It doesn’t sit well with me.

The chemistry between Jin Young and Min-ju is crazy good but we want to see more character development in them as they seem to be having a blank sad face all the time and it’s tiring at this point. Either way, the series is a slow burning romance and it has to catch up fast or else the viewers will end up sleeping.
