Typhoon Family Episode 14 Recap

This episode begins with Bak-ho reliving his memories where he promised a promissory note in exchange for 40 million won. And the only person who helped him out that time was Jin-young, the owner of Typhoon Company, when everyone refused to even pick up his call. In the present, Tae-poong tells Bak-ho that once Typhoon Company delivers the gloves and receives their payment, the promissory note will be given to Bak-ho. And if he rejects this, Tae-poong will reveal everything, as Bak-ho has much more to lose than he does. However, the deal also includes that if Tae-poong fails to present the promissory note, he will give up his own position as the CEO of the Typhoon Company.

Back at the yard, Hyeon-jun comes to demand why his gloves are getting sent to Typhoon Company and gets slapped by Mi-seon and confronted for being the one to set the factory on fire. Mi-seon also comforts Tae-poong for everything he’s going through. On the other hand, we see that Miss Cha refuses to ask for forgiveness and continues to justify her actions of betraying the company. Later, we see Tae-poong going to his old office searching for the promissory note. But in doing so, he gets caught and ends up in the police station.

After that, they both talk, and Tae-poong gifts Mi-seon a cell phone so that they can stay connected. They share some very sweet and romantic moments together, after which they even decide to go to the beach. On the other hand, in a weird twist, we see Hyeon-jun being reprimanded for acting like a fool by his father. Frustrated and angry with his father for calling him a fool and making him lose face in front of Tae-poong, Hyeon-jun ends up hitting his father mercilessly. It becomes clear that Hyeon-jun is actually mentally unstable, as he even drags his father’s body and unloads his still-breathing self in a shipping container.

Finally, everyone goes to the beach and they have a lot of fun there. Tae-poong was thinking about work here as well, but later seemed to have fun. Then Tae-poong and Mi-seon go hunting for clams. They spend some light-hearted time doing this, and Tae-poong realises how much the promissory note has been weighing down on him. At night, they all huddle together and listen to horror stories. But we get to see that Mi-ho still keeps in contact with her ex-boyfriend, and Nam-mo finds out about it. Needless to say, he was furious.

Finally, the day comes when Tae-poong must provide the promissory note, but he still does not have it. Thus, he decides to offer something else in exchange for that and takes Mi-seon with him to meet with Bak-ho. There, Tae-poong finds out that Hyeon-jun’s father is not in the office, and all his deals are being handled by Hyeon-jun himself. The episode reveals another twist in the end as Bae says to Tae-poong that his father is going to kill himself. We do not know what this means yet.

I absolutely loved this episode and appreciate the twist in the middle. That scene definitely gave a lot more character to the series. Now that only two episodes are left, I am hopeful for the future.
