Billionaires’ Bunker Review
In this Spanish drama-thriller series, viewers are (again) taken inside a claustrophobic bunker with a bunch of annoying rich people to see their lives falling apart as the “normies” die outside. It’s a tale as old as time, but one that isn’t without its charms, as viewers can find themselves hooked to said rich people getting a taste of their own medicine. Alas, Billionaires’ Bunker doesn’t scratch that particular itch and, in fact, gets melodramatic when it should’ve gotten more thrilling.
I think the most disappointing part of the series is that it doesn’t capture the catastrophe and the rising tension of the series well and, instead, focuses too much on mindless bickering that takes it away from the series. Moreover, the story isn’t new or truly mysterious since it follows very similar beats, and the characters are quite clichéd, so much so that you will understand the truth behind their mysterious aura quite early in the runtime.

What remains, thus, is a bunch of snooty people being terrible in the face of the world going up in flames. I mean, most of the characters are grey in one way or another, such that you wonder how we are supposed to feel about them. The series constantly tries to make these characters evolve, which is great in a way. Although some of their interactions can get a bit tiring because they are so sleazy, I think I found Asia and Max’s struggles a bit more interesting than the rest.
The premise of this being “done on purpose” is quite silly and unbelievable at times. The planning that goes into this entire thing is a bit too over-the-top, to the point where it’s actually a bit hilarious at times. You wait and wonder whether there’s a big reason to go to all of these lengths. The explanation, however, is what truly makes you disappointed, though, because it’s just so unmemorable and… common. You expect some grand plan, but in the end, it’s what we all want. We just don’t go to these extremes for it.

That being said, it isn’t entirely without its merits. Although the twists are quite obvious, there are quite a few of them, and they will keep things moving at a breathtaking pace. The drama answers many of the questions it poses and sometimes even leaves you invested, although it tends to lean towards melodrama more often than not. The difference between the reactions of the “victims” and the “perpetrators” makes for a shocking few scenes and keeps you guessing the motive and where these messy people go from there.

Final Thoughts

Billionaires’ Bunker is fine, I guess. There’s nothing new here other than some surprising, dramatic moments. Although I enjoy watching drama, the series tends to get a bit too melodramatic sometimes. If you feel like watching a light-on-the-mystery thriller series, this one might be up your alley, but, honestly, it’s nothing memorable in any way.

70% of each episodes is talking and relationship and romantic stuff, also ALOT OF FLASHBACKS…some are used many time,
I watched all 8 episodes in one go, there is alot of stuff that is waste of time and nothing importent,
The only episode i woke up from was the last episode, SOMETHING FINALLY HAPPENED….
This is like a fallout show but from TEMU AND WISH COMBINED,
And the end was ok, i wanted both to escape, and those happy people whos behind the hunger game stuff, is killing people for the secret and game,
They need a few more so that the whole thing and those millionaire people goes down and dies, and the guy snapping the guys friends neck needs to get that same thing back, (il do it for free)..
Wadte of time, NOTHING TO SEE HERE MOVE ALONG…
