Tastefully Yours Episode 4 Review: Food Rivalries and the Kiss of Love

In the last episode of Tastefully Yours, it seems like the three musketeers have found themselves a fourth wheel after Chun-seung allegedly burns down Jungjae in a fit of drunken rage. Meanwhile, after being burned by Yeo-ul, Young-hye makes her way to Jeonju and immediately butts heads with Yeon-ju.

Tastefully Yours episode 4 has a runtime of 60 minutes.

Tastefully Yours Episode 4 Recap

The episode starts right when Yeon-ju meets Young-hye outside Jungjae. Everyone is left confused and awkward when Beom-woo calls Young-hye his ex-girlfriend and then scolds her for following him around. Young-hye understands what’s going on and tries to incite the two against each other, but Yeon-ju’s nonchalant response leaves everyone stunned. Beom-woo then runs off with Young-hye in tow.

Once in a more private setting, Beom-woo tells Young-hye that Yeon-ju is a chef, which she is quick to dismiss. However, Beom-woo calls her much more talented than Young-hye and then asks her to go back home. That night, Beom-woo is overcome with feelings over Yeon-ju’s rather chummy treatment of him.

The next morning, Beom-woo is left utterly stunned when he finds Yeon-ju living in the room beside him. Of course, he realises later on that the restaurant fire also resulted in her house burning down. They later prepare for the festival but are unable to agree on the menu. In the end, Beom-woo jokingly suggests gimbap, which Yeon-ju immediately agrees with, much to his confusion.

At the event, Chun-seung and Myeong-sook prepare the food truck, which looks like a huge disaster, while the others are newer and fancier. However, they still try to make the most of it, until Beom-woo realises that the food festival is being sponsored by Hansang. Soon enough, Seon-woo strolls in and, after a brief war of words, Seon-woo increases the first prize money to 10 million won. It leaves the organiser and Beom-woo absolutely shocked.

Later on, as people flock in, people go everywhere but to buy gimbap. Beom-woo eventually rushes in to add something special to the menu and tells the others about the renewed prize fund. Yeon-ju is unhappy about the switch-up up but the amazing ingredients change her mind and she eventually comes up with a delicious-looking gimbap. It’s definitely a neck-to-neck competition between the two, but Jungjae ends up selling out in the end, while Young-hye’s food truck struggles to fulfil duck confit orders.

It’s an exciting time for everyone at Jungjae as they go off to have a team dinner while Young-hye is on the verge of losing her job after the fiasco at the food truck.

The next morning, Yeon-ju admonishes Beom-woo for smoking near the restaurant after finding a lighter inside, but he tells her that it’s not his. Day two of the food festival, Park Koon arrives to entertain the guests, and Beom-woo realises that it’s Seon-woo’s trick to take away their patrons. Young-hye even changes the menu to compete against Jungjae. To compete against them, Chun-seung brings something to serve on the side, his homemade moju.

Meanwhile, patrons rush over to eat regular gimbap after becoming tired of the fancy food, and they serve it as a platter with moju. In the midst, Chun-seung and Myeong-sook spread misinformation about Beom-woo and Yeon-ju having a baby and needing money, but they go along with it so as not to sound like liars. That night, however, everyone’s mood is spoiled when Young-hye is declared the winner. Beom-woo confronts Seon-woo, but he just insults him for losing the contest.

Either way, that night, Beom-woo opens up about his crush on Yeon-ju and the two end up kissing each other.

Tastefully Yours Episode 4: Kang Ha-neul, Go Min-si

Oh my god – if there was ever a cute, classic rom-com in the present times that made an impression from the first episode, it would be Tastefully Yours. Amazing food, dumb rivalries and love in the air. It doesn’t get any better than this. Again, Kang Ha-neul and Go Min-si make such a charming couple that it’s impossible not to root for them. Every scene they are in together, it feels like they are being drawn to one another. Meanwhile, the series promises to give us Yoo Yeon-seok next week – I can’t keep calm.

If you’re in the mood for love and want something new, this one should be on your list. And, no, I am not giddy, YOU ARE.
