Dandadan Episode 7 Recap

Dandadan Episode 8 Review

In the last episode, Acrobatic Silky’s fixation on Aira, coupled with her desire to be recognized as Aira’s mother, initially comes across as comedic and insignificant, especially given the lack of background information about her.

However, here we dive deep into Silky’s past, unravelling a heart-wrenching story that explains her transformation. Her bond with Aira is so intense that she’s willing to go to extreme lengths, fully aware that she stands to gain nothing in return.

At the core of this ghost’s yearning lies the tragic tale of a mother who fought valiantly to provide her daughter with a better life. Acrobatic Silky may have once been a talented ballerina, forced by circumstances to take on menial jobs and even prostitution to survive. Despite her daily struggles, her daughter’s smile was her beacon of hope, pushing her to endure the hardships of life. But her world shattered when her daughter was snatched away, leading her down a dark path to becoming a monster.

The bittersweet ending of the episode offers a sense of resolution but also leaves us with a feeling of loss.

Dandadan Episode 8 Review

After getting a deeply emotional episode last week, Dandadan is back with its trademark hilarious and absurd situations that we love. This time, Aira is shown to have developed pretty positive feelings towards Okarun and Seiko. A good explanation behind it is the fact that he valiantly protected her multiple times without any reason. However, Aira’s reaction towards Momo is completely different. She still harbours a grave misconception regarding our protagonist and thinks she is some evil entity who controls the demon with a soft heart or, as we know him, Okarun.

Aira still lives in the fantasy that she is the chosen one who is supposed to liberate Okarun from Momo’s despotic power, and she will do it by hook or by crook. Not only that, but Aira also very quickly falls in love with our hero and even decides to propose in a very unique manner. Kiss him till he agrees to her love. Apparently, this is how she learned confessions work, and now she wants to apply this method whether Okarun wants it or not. This segment was absolutely hilarious as they almost fight each other when Aira tries to kiss a very reluctant Okarun, who just wants to avoid her.

But we are forgetting one very important member in the picture, and she is Momo. Momo might not understand her feelings towards Okarun, but it is apparent that she is not happy with the sudden interest Aira develops towards her friend. On top of that, Okarun also starts to avoid her and is more unwilling to spend time with her. Thus, even more misunderstandings pile up, and we find ourselves in a very messy love triangle where only one person, Aira, is sure of her feelings.

However, the introduction of more aliens, specifically the very controversial Serpo Aliens or Serpoians, in the end, completely turns the narrative of the story. This time, they are here for someone else’s banana, and they have prepared a rather nasty tool to get it.

Verdict

Today’s episode was filled with many good things that will keep you entertained till the end. Not only that, but the conclusion will leave you in despair with its cliffhanger. But yes, one thing is for sure, this episode was not for the Momo x Okarun shippers. Aira takes the win for this round.
