Seoul Busters Episode 7 Recap

We dive straight into the backstory of Jung Jung-hwan, who used to be an Olympic shooter before life took a turn, making him a police officer. The episode starts with a team gathering at Jung-hwan’s house, where his wife prepares a feast. However, the family dinner turns chaotic thanks to their four children, who constantly interrupt the adults, much to their mother’s frustration. You can see her annoyance bubbling up, but the lighthearted family vibe gives the scene some charm.

After the gathering, Mu Jung-ryuk and Jang Tan-sik decide to grab drinks, and it’s here where things get even funnier. They reminisce about Jung-hwan’s life, starting with how he met his wife, an Olympic table tennis player, and how their whirlwind romance led to their first child. But here’s the kicker—Jung-hwan was so distracted by love that he couldn’t qualify for the Olympics! Instead, he turned to police work to support his growing family.

And when I say “growing,” I mean it literally—despite his best efforts (including a hilarious failed surgery), the couple kept having kids. At one point, the show even depicts his sperm as little soldiers, emphasizing how he always hits the target. It’s laugh-out-loud funny and a standout moment in the episode.

But things quickly shift gears when the 2nd Violent Crimes Unit takes on a new case. This time, it’s a kidnapping involving a kindergartener named Yoona. Her father, who runs a YouTube channel exposing scam artists, has plenty of enemies, making it hard for the team to figure out who could’ve taken her. As the team digs into the suspects, they hit several dead ends, leading to frustration.

And just when it seems like they’re getting nowhere, the media catches wind of the case, complicating matters further. The kidnappers demand money, and Yoona’s family is left terrified. But the real shocker comes when Dongbang Yu-bin gets a call—his unit is being removed from the case, and another team is taking over. Talk about ending on a tense note!

Seoul Busters Episode 7 Review

This episode of Seoul Busters is a mix of gut-busting comedy and nerve-wracking tension. Jung Jung-hwan’s backstory is equal parts touching and ridiculous, making you feel for him while also cracking up at the absurdity of his situation. The scene where his sperm are depicted as little army men? Pure gold. It’s exactly the kind of outlandish humor that makes this show so enjoyable. The dynamic between Jung-hwan and his wife, especially their love-at-first-sight story and their “problem” with having too many kids, adds a unique flavor of comedy that feels fresh.

But what really makes this episode shine is how it shifts from lighthearted moments to a high-stakes kidnapping case. The contrast works surprisingly well—one minute you’re laughing at Jung-hwan’s fertility struggles, and the next, you’re on the edge of your seat as the team races against time to save a kidnapped child. The case itself is intriguing, and the reveal that the team is being taken off it adds an extra layer of suspense. It makes you wonder what’s going to happen next, especially with Yoona’s life hanging in the balance.

However, while the humour and tension balance well, the transition between these two tones could’ve been a bit smoother. The sudden switch from Jung-hwan’s hilarious family drama to the intense kidnapping investigation felt a little jarring. The investigation itself also felt slightly rushed, especially with the number of suspects being introduced in such a short span of time. Still, the cliffhanger at the end more than makes up for it, leaving you eager for the next episode.
