Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 5 Recap

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 6 Review Sion's Feelings For Will

The Grand Magic Festival is finally underway, and Will has vowed to defeat Julius. The first event, called The Sky Race, strongly resembles Quidditch from Harry Potter, with the main difference being that instead of riding brooms, the participants are flying on dragons.

The focus quickly shifts to the main event, the Crown Attack. To enter this competition, a team must have a combined total of 21,000 credits, with three members participating. Colette, who is eager to support Will, teams up with him, but they still need one more person with enough credits to qualify. Colette cleverly persuades Sion, who has a crush on her, to join their team.

As the battle begins, Will’s team surprises everyone with their outstanding performance. They efficiently overcome obstacles, thanks to Colette’s Earth magic and the magical items that enhance Will’s physical abilities.

However, the tone of the episode changes when Julius enters the fray, signalling the start of the main showdown. In an unexpected twist, Sion, who has been quietly following the rules and supporting Will, reveals his own motives, which is to defeat Will.

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 6 Review And Recap

Wistoria: Wand and Sword Episode 6 Review Sion's Feelings For Will

Things start off with the battle between Will and Sion, and things do not look good for our hero. You also get a glimpse of the past, where Sion seems to have a completely different approach than what he has now towards Will. In the beginning, he was not as aggressive as he is now, nor was he so hell-bent on wiping Will off the face of the earth.

It is shown that Sion actually did not like others making fun of Will. This is why he wanted Will to join his faction and be his follower so that he would not be targeted anymore. But this kind of fate is definitely not accepted by Will, thus Sion’s animosity remains. Plus, there is also the fact that Will never really cared about anyone within the institution other than being obsessed with climbing the tower to be with Elfaria.

Back in the tournament, Will is getting pushed by the explosive amount of magic of Sion. On the other hand, Colette is also having a tough time keeping Julius at bay. However, this sort of display was not that welcomed by anyone who came to the tournament to look for new talents. But one thing is clear to them Sion is an excellent fire magic user who is nowhere near student level anymore.

The battle between Will and Sion culminates in a huge spectacle where Sion finally comes clean about his feelings. He eventually lets out how miffed he had been for being ignored by Will all this time. It is clear that because Will thought that nobody would accept him, he, too, accepted no one in his life and only looked upwards.

The result of the battle was definitely unexpected but, at the same time, entertaining. You can see that Will is not someone who will take a beating lying down even when he doesn’t have any magic at all.

Verdict

I can never praise the animation of this series enough, and this time as well, it was breathtaking. The mystery of Sion’s unnecessary hate towards Will has finally been solved.
