My Name is Gabriel Episode 5 Recap
The episode continues with Yeom Hye-ran’s rime in Chongqing as her break takes her to the Mahjong table a table meant for the employees to use during their break. Hye-ran is surprised by the table hidden under a cover and excited to begin playing the game. However, being new to the game doesn’t make it easy for her as she ends up losing 4 rounds and having to buy her friends ice cream.
While the game ends with her losing, she soon gets to work as the afternoon welcomes a hoard of customers awaiting her service. She slowly gets used to the work when sudden rain surprises her. Right then, the employees get tents out for the customers and she begins helping them to fix them outside at each table. After a busy day serving customers in her area while getting drenched in the rain, Hye-ran finally gets to go home when her husband arrives to pick her up.
Upon reaching home, she greets her child, who is surprised when they present him with fruits brought on the way. The family soon begins dinner during which Hye-ran tells them about the day she has had and even mentions losing in Mahjong. This perks her mother’s interest as she reveals her expertise in the game and prepares to train her daughter.

While Hye-ran gets to play with her child after dinner, the child’s never-ending energy worries her. Right then, her mother arrives and Hye-ran is surprised by the Mahjong table under their dining table. Everyone gathers around the table and her mother begins teaching her the way to play the game. Hye-ran takes in the lessons and soon, her mother suggests getting serious.
Hye-ran once again faces losses as her mother and husband defeat her. Hye-ran is stunned as she wonders what happened, only to have the night end as she is rushed off to bed. She prepares for bed while taking her time to learn some more Chinese for easier communication the next day. The next day, she repeats her routine more smoothly as she bids goodbye to her child after handing him a letter with a chocolate.
On her way to work, her husband hands her some pain relief patches, as he is aware of how stressful her work can get. Hye-ran is touched by this and soon makes her way to the restaurant and lines up for the role count. While she still isn’t able to get through the morning chants smoothly and even messes up her attendance, the following process is easier.
She soon makes her way to her area and smoothly helps out wherever it is needed before she is called by her manager to help out in the kitchen. She joins a group in preparing some ingredients while having small conversations with them during the process. Later, she asks to be taken to the place where the broth is made and is shocked by the amount of spices and bowls in the room.
It is soon time for lunch and after a hefty meal, she is ready for some Mahjong. However, she is surprised by the change of plans as she is taken to an unknown place for some classes that won’t be easy. Upon arriving at her destination, she soon realises that she is to take dance classes which leaves her shocked as her segment comes to an end.

Next, Park Myung-soo’s final segment begins as he heads out with Jaem and Nallan to shop for her first Songkran Festival pool party that he planned on preparing for his family. The three soon reach their destination and Myung-soo almost goes all out buying things for Nallan while Jaem keeps things in control by only getting necessary things.
The two soon finish shopping for Nallan and get back until Myung-soo remembers Su’s favourite KFC and stops on the way to buy her some fried chicken. With all the things shopped for, they soon head back home as Myung-soo shows the chicken he bought for Su. The family soon gathers and Myung-soo makes sure to wait for Jaem before they begin eating.
Meanwhile, Myung-soo talks about the things he bought for Nallan and starts dancing with the monkey toy he brought for the little girl. Su and Si also join him and Myung-soo is surprised by Si who tells her about her love for dancing. Myung-soo begins interacting with her on this topic and tells Jaem about the same when she arrives.
The group soon begins eating and Su doesn’t shy away while Myung-soo continues teasing her. Meanwhile, Jaem tells Si to show her dance moves at the pool party while Myung-soo finds out about her love for men who can dance when she admits to preferring men who can dance over those who are handsome. Meanwhile, Su is happy with those who love KFC like herself, making everyone burst into laughter.

After a hefty meal, the group begin preparing for the party as Myung-soo is left blowing the inflatable pool. Even his friend Champ, who has arrived to go to the party, pushes the pool at him and Myung-soo is left with no option. As people begin to gather around, Myung-soo finds himself confused by the people and tries to remember as many as he can.
He then asks what they want to eat and has it prepared while Su asks for ice cream which they decide to buy on the way to the place they will have the party. However, deciding on the place to go proves to be harder than they thought as the dry season creates issues. Finally, they decide on going to a nearby hotel and have a pool party.
The group heads out on their bikes with Myung-soo leading the way as he makes a stop at a nearby convenience store to get ice cream for everyone. Following this ice cream break, they all make their way to the hotel and rush to the pool where they begin to have a fun time. Nallan finally gets her first pool party as everyone enjoys their time in the pool.
Myung-soo even heads out to take pictures of everyone before she realises that they are all getting bored. Having been a good entertainer until now, Myung-soo cannot accept this silence and gathers the men to play a game from the Running Man. However, this proves to be harder than he thought after he chooses to get everyone involved in the game to fill swimming caps with water and put it on another’s head.
He is soon made to sit and have water thrown on him which results in a rather funny scene as Myung-soo’s hair causes everyone to roll over with laughter. Meanwhile, the game continues until Su steps in and is finally able to get it right, resulting in cheers erupting everywhere as everyone begins enjoying themselves again.
Later, it is time for food and Myung-soo takes charge of the grill and begins cooking the food for everyone after which he even takes care of Nallan so that Jaem can have a good meal. Following this, he puts on some music and has everyone dance as Si takes over the stage with her moves while everyone enjoys their time together before their goodbyes.
The night soon comes to an end and the next day, Myung-soo is sent off with gifts for him along with good feelings. However, sensing his departure, Nallan begins crying which makes everyone there emotional as Myung-soo takes Nallan before handing her back and telling everyone to go inside. His days at Votti finally come to an end as she returns to being Myung-soo.

Back in the studio, everyone listens to the messages left for Myung-soo by the family as they hope to meet again. However, it doesn’t end her as a video of them receiving the stroller for Nallan is shown following the revelation of the real Votti. Myung-soo is shocked to find out that the real Votti had been around him this whole time while Hye-ran begins thinking about who could’ve been the real Qiu Qianyun around her.
With this, the episode comes to an end as we say goodbye to Myung-soo and await the arrival of the new Gabriel.
