Ninja Kamui Episode 12 Review: Hidden Secrets Of The Ninja Organisation

Ninja Kamui Episode 12 Review: This episode gave us info on the ninja organisation. This action series is brought to us by the director of Jujutsu Kaisen, so let us see how the 12th episode went in detail below.

Ninja Kamui Episode 12 Overview

Ninja Kamui is a captivating Japanese anime series brought to life by E&H Production and Sola Entertainment, with a touch of executive flair from Williams Street. Making its debut on Adult Swim’s Toonami lineup in February 2024, this show has been eagerly anticipated since its announcement in May 2022. Steering the series is director Sunghoo Park, while the iconic character designs come from Takashi Okazaki.

Ninja Kamui first got everyone buzzing when Adult Swim dropped a teaser trailer at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2023. Other than that, the video game version of Ninja Kamui, called Ninja Kamui: Shinobi Origins, is set to come out in the second quarter of 2024.

The theme song, “Vengeance,” by Coldrain, sets the stage as the opening of the show.

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Ninja Kamui Episode 12 Review Hidden Secrets Of The Ninja Organisation

Today’s episode had some weird aspects that honestly do not make much sense. At first, we see the doctor who also helped Higan in the past come to visit him out of nowhere. He then transforms into Higan’s previous master who was thought to be dead.

After that, we go on a long segment of self-reflection where the master discloses to Higan the many secrets of the organisation and how things became so difficult in the present time. He was the first one who tried to change the ninja organisation from within. He too thought the shackles that are put on a ninja, to be a limiting aspect of the organisation and wanted to do away with the ninja code.

On top of that, Japan itself was apparently, trying to distance itself from a shady organisation like this, hence the master wanted to come up with ways with which he would be able to give the association a new direction to evolve.

At that time, he encountered Mari and was fascinated with her heart. He knew that she possessed a kind soul which is very unlike of ninjas. But before the master could do anything and change the organisation for the better, he clashed with Yamaji. Yamaji, who has a very archaic mindset, wanted to bind the organisation with more codes and stricter rules, thus, he took no time to kill all those who opposed him.

This episode also had a very sad but very obvious death. Other than that, we see clearly who the main villain is in this episode and whom Higan will have to fight in his last battle.

But I must admit, I thought the anime would be a lot better than what it is now. It started out great with a very complex and compact storyline, but now there are parts that just do not make sense. The director and the writer definitely had their hearts in the right place, but it was not enough, as their execution of the conclusion did not come out as well as it should.

Verdict

But there’s still one episode left, so I don’t know how they will be able to churn out a satisfactory conclusion or tie all the loose ends. Hopefully, we will see a better last episode than today’s lukewarm one. And, I also hope there will be less fantastical elements that have no reason behind them.
