Ninja Kamui Episode 8 Overview

Ninja Kamui is a captivating Japanese anime series brought to life by E&H Production and Sola Entertainment, with a touch of executive flair from Williams Street. Making its debut on Adult Swim’s Toonami lineup in February 2024, this show has been eagerly anticipated since its announcement in May 2022. Steering the series is director Sunghoo Park, while the iconic character designs come from Takashi Okazaki.

Ninja Kamui first got everyone buzzing when Adult Swim dropped a teaser trailer at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2023. Other than that, the video game version of Ninja Kamui, called Ninja Kamui: Shinobi Origins, is set to come out in the second quarter of 2024.

The theme song, “Vengeance,” by Coldrain, sets the stage as the opening of the show.

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Ninja Kamui Episode 8 Review and Recap: Emma’s Resolve

Ninja Kamui Episode 8 Review AUZA Corporation Is Evil

Another new episode dropped, and this was again a great watch. Here, we find out more about what might be the intention of the AUZA group. They are heavily promoting their source of energy, claiming it to be clean and cheaper than any other enterprise. Even their ads promote how their newly discovered fuel source, Cuborium, can produce unlimited heat at a fraction of the cost. They also plan to make more power plants to support their Department of Energy. But, the way they are increasing their production is definitely not something that other forces will readily agree with.

Someone amongst the higher-ups even points out concerns about how fisheries and environmental groups will not agree to make these potentially dangerous facilities along the coastlines. But Joseph quickly produces documents showing that he already has permission from many world leaders. This shows that the AUZA corporation is very powerful and now they want to monopolise the energy market of the world. If they manage to do so, they will have the entire world within their grip, and no one will be there to oppose the AUZA corporation.

And it is not just money that is making this happen. The ninja sect under Yamaji has been reduced to nothing but a subsidiary of AUZA. This is why Emma, all the more, wants to defeat Yamaji and help Higan along the way. Her resolve to help Higan is very strong, and she clearly expresses how it is something that she needs to do for her own self. It is a promise that she made to herself because she must protect Higan, till the end.

This episode was pretty information-heavy as we slowly realised how dangerous AUZA corporation is in reality. They are an evil organisation that is pulling the strings from behind the scenes. Not only are they untouchable, but because of their ninja superhumans, they are also feared.

Nothing can come in their way or stop them other than a rogue ninja, like Higan. But things are not that simple, and even when he has the Kamui suit, Higan is still far from invincible. He needs to practise more and have a better connection with his gear.

Verdict

This episode was entertaining, and it keeps you hooked till the end. The fight scenes are also fascinating with some nicely choreographed action sequences. You do recognise the CGI, but it might not bother you as much, and the whole animation does come out clean.
