Popular comedian and TV show host Yoo Jae-suk is everyone’s favourite person when it comes to Korean reality TV. With a unique and witty way of bringing forth various situations to life, the comedian has been seen time and time again in every other show and has livened all of them up intensely. There is no show that the talented TV personality hasn’t brightened up with his bright smile and funny dialogues, entertaining people from all walks of life and all ages.
His latest show, Apartment 404, featuring a whole host of talented personalities including Oh Na-ra, Cha Tae-hyun, Yang Se-chan, Lee Jung-ha, BLACKPINK Jennie, takes comedy and mystery to a whole new level! Originally airing on tvN in Korea, and streaming on Amazon Prime Video in other regions, this fun show will have Yoo Jae-suk and his companions in a mysterious apartment where every residence holds a different secret that the members have to decipher. With a retro vibe and transcending different timelines, the series is sure to be an entertaining ride throughout.

Running Man (2010 – Present)
Starring Yu Jae Seok, Kim Jong-kook, Haha, Jee Seok-jin, Song Ji-hyo, Lee Kwang-soo, Jeon So-min, and Yang Se-chan, this variety show is a combination of action & adventure and comedy where the members take part in different activities to win the game. Every episode is different and can have the members working together as a team or against each other. Through trust and betrayal, physical strength as well as their wits, the members go through hilarious situations to entertain the audience with their silly antics! The series, on episode 693 at the moment, is a funny, light and entertaining watch that will keep everyone happy and invested.
Busted! (2018 – 2021)
Operating as private detectives for a project called Project D, seven celebrity sleuths, including Yu Jae-seok, Park Min-young, Lee Seung-gi, Lee Kwang-soo, Kim Jong-min, Oh Se-hun and Kim Se-jeong, team up to figure out a different mystery in every episode. Every episode flows smoothly and the talented cast is mesmerising to look at as they try and solve grisly murders together. The dynamic cast shares some very genuine chemistry that is not only entertaining but also surprisingly endearing. With guest starring popping in here and there to shake everything up, this show will never feel boring or heavy and will be the perfect partner to binge-watch if you are tired of watching heavy dramas.
Korea No. 1 (2022)
In this variety show, three celebrity hosts, Yu Jae-seok, Lee Kwang-soo and Kim Yeon-koung, get together to experience traditional Korean culture from the masters and learn first-hand about the hard work that goes into making them the best. This show is for those who love to learn new things and experience the joy of traditions and cultures in the process.
The series is insightful and satisfying to watch in an endearing way. However, that doesn’t make it boring; in fact, viewers will find the show to be extremely funny every episode is entertaining in its own way. On top of that, the witty conversations among the hosts just add to the fun and keep things light and flowing without trying too hard!
Sixth Sense (2020 – 2022)
A refreshingly new take to variety TV where the hosts, including Yoo Jae-suk, Oh Na-ra, Jessi, Mijoo, Lee Sang-yeob and Jeon So-min, have to individually pick out among three places or people which/who is fake. The production team makes painstaking efforts to make these fake scenarios as real as possible so that the hosts are not able to figure out the truth easily. In the end, those who are able to successfully figure out the fakes win while the ones who guess wrong are punished.
The series goes through many rule changes in its subsequent seasons but what keeps it entertaining as ever is that the hosts are fun, energetic, witty and extremely sweet and the chemistry that they share with each other seems realistic and endearing.
Village Survival the Eight (2018 – 2019)
In this mystery-thriller variety show set in a village, hosted by Yoo Jae-suk and starring Kim Sang-ho, Son Dam-bi, Kang Ki-young, Jang Do-yeon, Yang Se-hyung, Im Soo-hyang, Song Kang, Jennie Kim, Jeon So-min and others, members have to stay together for 24 hours and try to solve a mysterious sitaution. They play differnet games together that brings forth their different spirits, making for a fun and energetic watch.
The series is hilarious and the different members bring a diverse array of personalities to the table that keep things moving and entertaining. There is not a moment that the show feels slow and that’s because the entire cast’s interactions with one another. Although we have seen many mystery variety shows, this one stands out because of the people who take part in it.
