My Man is Cupid Episode 16 Recap
Just when we think Baek-ryun is dead, the flashback shows how Sang-hyuk saved her right before the explosion. Apparently, when Sang-hyuk rushes to save Baek-ryun, he starts to vanish, hinting at his last metamorphoses slowly. However, his friend Dong-chil, a cupid, shoots an arrow at him and stops the process so he can save Baek-ryun. He successfully saves her and then proceeds to chase the serial killer.

The serial killer, frightened at the sight of a cupid like Sang-hyuk, starts running as he doesn’t want to get caught in his hands. But the furious Sang-hyuk mightily chases him without giving the police officers a chance to catch the bad guy. When the serial killer and Sang-hyuk go head-on, the latter endures lots of damage. Regardless, he pushes the serial killer off a building, immediately killing him. Then Sang-hyuk vanishes completely and so the other three cupids.
The police officers finally close the case and help Baek-ryun but she feels miserable knowing her lover has gone. She starts another journey of prayer by visiting the mountain for 1000 days, hoping he will return within those days. As days pass, she finally completes the 1000th day and the spirit of Sang-hyuk returns after three whole years.

The two then get married, share a daughter and live a happy life. Previously, Jae-hee and Baek-ryun meet and they embrace each other before he wishes her farewell and leaves. She says sorry to him for all the things that happened both in the past and now. He smiles and leaves. Do-ra is left alone as Dong-gu doesn’t return and it’s so sad to see her yearn for his presence.
My Man is Cupid Episode 16 Review
As expected the ending is an absolute disaster. The great finale was rushed so badly that it missed the whole point of the series. Firstly, the serial killer sub-plot wasn’t even necessary, to begin with, regardless they still added it. Then why didn’t they give it a proper conclusion? They literally made him die in a fraction of a second, spoiling potential scenes. We have no idea why he killed all those women, who he really is, what was his intentions and such. Only to prove Sang-hyuk’s heroism, the serial killer was there perhaps. Nobody knows what connection he had with Myeong-sik as well and why he killed him.
The cupids? What was their role in the series? Nothing. Dong-gu at least had some romance only to wrap it up like he left Do-ra just like that. Seriously? I don’t get how that’s hilarious. What’s up with the two deities? Why did they even want to play with Sang-hyuk’s life? Oh Goodness. Can we talk about Jae-hee, one of the main characters? He literally has a connection with them two in his past life as well but nothing promising was provided.

They could have made use of his past life’s memories and improved the love triangle or even better could have made him a crucial villain. But they decided to make a fool out of him. Sang-hyuk and Baek-ryun’s chemistry is nice but the ending gave me a brain freeze. Just like other series, they’re getting married and having a daughter—it’s alright but again, she’s a human. They could have ended her life and resurrected her as a cupid or something to make more sense. Now, Sang-hyuk will never age while she will.
Overall, the series’ first few episodes were nice but after that, it was an utter failure. My Man is Cupid is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Let us know your thoughts on the series in the comment section.
