Gyeongseong Creature Ending Explained

During the finale episode, we see Chae-ok opening her eyes to a new day when she has finally escaped the hospital nightmare, but without Jang Tae-sang. We are then taken back to the night before where the group was on their way to make their escape when some soldiers discovered their presence.

This leads to Tae-sang, Chae-ok and the young soldier having a face-off with the Japanese soldiers while the others make their escape. During this exchange, the young soldier is shot dead and when it is finally time for them to escape, Tae-sang stays behind to keep the enemy occupied.

Seeing this, Chae-ok wants to rush back, but with the prisoners’ lives at stake, she has to turn her back to Tae-sang and leave. Meanwhile, Tae-sang holds off the enemy soldiers and makes his escape into the vent. He tries to escape the men but accidentally falls into a room filled with bones where one of the officers arrives and tries to kill him.

Elsewhere, Kwon Jun-taek reveals the names of Tae-sang, Chae-ok and also the members of the independence movement group before he is let go. Meanwhile, Myeong-ja is sent back to Commissioner Ishikawa as promised, however, he is suspicious that others have also escaped the hospital.

He sends his men to intercept the other prisoners but the House of Golden Treasures is one step ahead of them. They succeed in helping the prisoners escape, along with Chae-ok and her father.

On the other hand, Colonel Kato finds the water cup on his table empty which had one of the Najin samples he tried to feed Chae-ok. He is shocked by this and finds out that the only ones to enter his office are Tae-sang, Chae-ok, Myeong-ja and Officer Soma. One of these four likely has a Najin inside of them right now which means another monster is out somewhere.

While he wonders who among these people has the Najin, Yukiko Maeda pushes Director Ichiro to resign after what has happened. However, he shows her the results that they have achieved after their experiment on Choi Seong-sim, who was the woman sent to the hospital by Maeda herself.

While this intrigues her, we find out that Tae-sang has somehow managed to save himself from the officer. As he walks away, a handprint left by him makes us suspicious is he has the Najin inside him. However, we soon see the Najin crawling inside Myeong-ja, towards her brain letting us know where the real monster is.

Is there really just one Najin that escaped the Hospital?

While we are certain that Myeong-ja has a Najin inside of her, there is a possibility that another Najin has entered someone else’s body. This would be none other than Tae-sang as we are unsure of how he escaped a gun pointed right at his wounded self. Another reason for this assumption would be the dream Chae-ok had of Tae-sang turning into a monster and the handprint that he leaves behind at the end.

While this is just a speculation, the next instalment is certainly preparing a rollercoaster which will take us through various turmoils, most probably leading towards a scene of the independence of Korea.
