Maestra Episode 2 Recap and Review: The all-new Korean mystery thriller Maestra Strings of Truth tells the story of a passionate violinist who reaches the peak she craves, without letting anyone get in her way. Directed by Kim Jung-kwon, the drama stars Lee Young-ae, Lee Mo-saeng, Hwang Bo Reum-byeol, Kim Young-jae, Park Ho-san, and Yang Jun-mo, alongside other cast members.
The Kdrama tells the story of violinist Cha Se-eum who is now the conductor of an orchestra. While she has reached a stage that is envied by all with her hard work and passion, Se-eum has a secret that can change her life forever. And so it does when a mysterious case takes place in the orchestra and she takes a look into it. The drama is a remake of the French show Philharmonia which aired in 2019.
Lee Yong-ae returns to the screen with a new protagonist role after her spectacular performance in Inspector Koo, alongside Lee Mo-saeng from Cleaning Up and Hwang Bo Reum-yeol from Can I Step In?

Se-eum pretends like she doesn’t know Jeong-jae and so Sang-do takes him outside. After knowing he is the founder of UC Financials, he gets baffled. Jeong-jae gets pissed at Se-eum’s response but he doesn’t give up. A flashback of the two is then shown. When Se-eum, in her youth, tries to drown herself in the sea, Jeong-jae saves her. They both then date and stay together for three years until she leaves him to become a music conductor.
Initially, during their relationship, she tells him she hates music due to the trauma she has and so, Jeong-jae tears her music college application. But after knowing that he has torn the application she gets mad at him and leaves. He demands she stay with him as he is the one who saved her life which triggers her even more. Back in the present day, he is still in love with her, in fact, has even divorced his wife as he wants Se-eum back.
Meanwhile, Se-eum ensures Luna stops being kind and starts being bold so she can make the members listen to her. Se-eum also appeases Jae-man and requests he joins Hanphil again and teaches Luna to become a concertmaster. As expected, Jae-man returns, and the rest of the orchestra members feel happy. Luna also takes power and talks in a much braver way to make her fellow members give her a chance to shine.

News regarding Jeong-jae goes to Kang Pil and he learns from Se-eum’s best friend that his wife and that man used to date. He doesn’t give it much thought and brushes it off for the sake of Se-eum. At the music center, to get back at Se-eum, Jeong-jae buys Hanphil and cancels the concert. When she goes to fight with him, he demands that she divorce Kang Pil or else he will keep pestering her. She gets furious and leaves.
The next day she arranges for a free concert along with a live stream. The event becomes a success, earning a huge crowd and top views on the streaming platforms. When Jeong-jae watches the live, he gets frustrated as he didn’t think she’d do this. After the concert ends, he meets with her and says that she has won but he isn’t one to give up. He says that there’s more to come until she comes to him again but Se-eum walks away giving no damn about it.
Just then she gets a text from Ajin who asks her to come to the emergency stairs. When she goes there, she finds her lovey-dovey husband Kang Pil, and Ajin making out. Jeong-jae pulls Se-eum aside and asks her not to see it and the episode ends.
Maestra Episode 2 Review
Of course, Kang Pil was cheating from the start given he hushed down his phone notification in the first episode. He always looked perplexed and it showed he was hiding something, well an affair. We don’t know whether Jeong-jae was aware of this affair from the beginning or learned about it on that very day but there are also chances of him setting up Ajin to make Kang Pil cheat on Se-eum. Either way, we will find out about that in the next episode.
Jeong-jae is a good man however he is obsessed with Se-eum. Though he unconditionally loves her, he wants to own and possess her, limiting Se-eum’s talents. If only he had given her the chance to pursue what she wanted or discussed with her about the application, perhaps they’d have been together. Yes, in the past Se-eum said she disliked music and that’s why Jeong-jae tore the application but the way he says she belongs to him as he saved her life sounds maniac.
Definitely, he wouldn’t have let her go easily but would have tortured her throughout because why would she hate him this much? Why would she marry someone else? All these questions will be answered in the upcoming episodes. Whether Se-eum confronts Kang Pil or not, her chances of getting back with Jeong-jae are quite low because she is a strong independent woman. But let’s see, what if Jeong-jae has matured and is indeed the right match for her?
