Loki Season 2 Episode 6 Review: Tom Hiddleston’s Brilliance and Writing Shine

The final episode of Loki Season 2 is now out. Directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, the episode is titled ‘Glorious Purpose’.

Loki Season 2 Episode 6 stars Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Owen Wilson as Mobius, Wunmi Mosaku as Hunter B-15, Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Sophia Di Martino as Sylvie, Jonathan Majors as He Who Remains/Victor Timely, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes (voice actor), Ke Huy Quan as Ouroborus/OB, and others.

In the last episode of Loki Season 2, we see Loki time slipping to different key moments of the past to save the TVA and his friends. However, all of his attempts go in vain.

The first 20 minutes of the episode have quite a comical tone to it, as we see our mischievous Loki in his element. However, this time, his purpose is to save people. But once things get seriously out of hand, the God of Mischief goes through one of the best character developments in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

One may wonder why the last episode is titled ‘Glorious Purpose’, which was also the title of the first episode in Season 1. But the last 20 minutes justify the name. We see Loki literally transforming into the God that he is and utilising his power in the best way possible.

The last episode had so many emotions going on that you crave more. Loki's excitement turns into vulnerability to an immense display of power and bravery over 55 minutes. It feels good to see the show's writers understand how to treat the character.

Tom Hiddleston is brilliant, as expected, with his performance. He understands Loki and his potential better than Marvel has ever done for the entire decade. You realise how unfair it was to treat him just like a “puny god”.

Overall, Loki is one such interesting Marvel character that can be moulded into anything and has never-ending stories. Tom brings the required depth and likeness to him, thus making everything he does memorable. One hopes that the stories keep going on as Loki discovers his new ‘Glorious Purpose’.
