A Haunting in Venice (2023)
The hype about this one is high and we cannot underestimate it. A third Poirot movie with Kenneth Branagh in the key role and also as a director just stands tall on the fact that no one can escape the glamour of this detective world, even if you have certain issues with its execution. This film is based on the novel titled Hallowe’en Party and takes Poirot out of exile into a seance. The cast of the film includes Kyle Allen, Camille Cottin, Jamie Dornan, Tina Fey, Jude Hill, Ali Khan, Emma Laird, Kelly Reilly, Riccardo Scamarcio and Michelle Yeoh. The movie is screening now in theatres.
The ABC Murders (2018)
John Malkovich as the famous Hercule Poirot- what? You heard us right! Loosely based on Christie’s novel of the same name, this BBC One mystery thriller keeps the spirit of the book alive and delivers it to us through remarkable performances. The series is written by Sarah Phelps and directed by Alex Gabassi. Alongside Malkovich, the cast features Rupert Grint, Andrew Buchan, Eamon Farren, Jack Farthing, Gregor Fisher, Tara Fitzgerald, Henry Goodman, Shirley Henderson and others. It is now streaming on SonyLIV.
Crooked House (2017)
A novel of the same name by Christie starring yet another set of big names that will make us go yoo-hoo with mystery and thrill. The film is directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner and is a rather compelling watch. Of course, it has its own setbacks in portraying Christie’s intricate world on screen but, it overall engages the audience in a brilliant way. The cast includes Max Irons, Terence Stamp, Glenn Close, Gillian Anderson, and Stefanie Martini and it is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.
And Then There Were None (2015)
The mini-series that no one saw coming and was swift enough to take away everyone’s breath with its class execution of the Christie narrative, And Then There Were None is another BCC One show that was a chef’s kiss. The show has three parts and was adapted by Sarah Phelps and directed by Craig Viveiros based on a novel of the same name, of course. Douglas Booth, Charles Dance, Maeve Dermody, Burn Gorman, Anna Maxwell Martin, Sam Neill, Miranda Richardson, Toby Stephens, Noah Taylor, and Aidan Turner played major roles in the series.
