King the Land Overview

King the Land (킹더랜드) is a rom-com Kdrama that brings the story of an heir and an employee who works at one of the hotels owned by his family. Directed by Im Hyun-wook, the drama stars Lee Jun-ho, Lim Yoon-a (Yoona), Go Won-hee, Kim Ga-eun, Ahn Se-ha, and Kim Jae-won, alongside other cast members.

The drama brings the story of the heir Goo Won who has been thrown into an inheritance war, and the happy Cheon Sa-rang, whose smile moves him like no other. As the two begin to spend more time together, a beautiful love begins to bloom in their story.

Lee Jun-ho was last seen on The Red Sleeve as Yi San / King Jeongjo, while Yoona played audience-favourite Go Mi-ho in 2022’s hugely popular Big MouthKing the Land takes over the jTBC’s Saturday-Sunday 22:30 PM KST time slot previously occupied by Doctor Cha.

Netflix’s synopsis of the show reads: “Amid a tense inheritance fight, a charming heir clashes with his hardworking employee who’s known for her irresistible smile — which he cannot stand.”

The celebrations may have ended but a bigger battle is soon to arrive when Gu Il-hoon asks Gu Won and Hwa-ran to prepare their plans for the hotel’s future. While the battle between them is ready to set off, behind the scenes, Hwa-ran prepares to get Sang-sik on her side. Meanwhile, Sa-rang faces the displeasure of a hotel guest.

The trip ends and preparation for King Hotel’s biggest celebration begins in full swing. While Gu Won and Sa-rang continue to make time from their busy schedules to go on dates, it doesn’t always go right and the two end up making funny memories together.

Meanwhile, Gu Won continues to meet old employees and other people to prepare a special guest list and event to celebrate this memorable moment. The day of the anniversary celebration soon arrives and Gu Won shocks everyone by picking very peculiar VIPs to give a speech.

From the son of the man who once helped Gu Il-hoon, to the old staff members whose lives changed at King Hotel, Gu Won brought them all together to honour their work done all these years. While Il-hoon is touched and content by this celebration, Hwa-ran faces backlash when the politician she invited storms off from the event.

Later, she complaints to Il-hoon who has made up his mind about the next step. Meanwhile, Sa-rang invites Gu Won to come to her house over the weekend and prepares a feast of homecooked meals for him. The two spend romantic moments together but are soon caught by Sa-rang’s friends, Ro-un and Sang-sik.
