This entire year has been a great one for one of the most popular Korean Pop bands, BTS. Their members have made their mark across the globe, especially Park Jimin, with the release of a new album and a single for the Fast and Furious series. Now, he has gone ahead and made Billboard history once again by being the only K-Pop solo artist to have two tracks feature on the Hot 100 chart. This is a feat of excellence for the community that continues to stream and support the artist’s music.
BTS Jimin started making solo music after the band took an indefinite hiatus following the military conscription of two of its members, Jin and J-Hope. While he had written solo music back in 2018 and 2022, they were mostly singles, and some were even original soundtracks for popular Korean dramas. However, the release of his latest extended play, titled FACE, shows that this is now a conscious career decision rather than a necessity.
The two songs on the chart currently are Like Crazy and Angel Pt 1. Both of these were extremely big debuts for the artist. The first being a lead single from his debut EP and the second being a soundtrack for a Hollywood film. They are both extremely rich achievements for the artist, who has also made other achievements with this album. He debuted at Number 2 on the Billboard 200 chart and also became the first since Olivia Rodrigo to debut that high.
Now, the Set Me Free artist is also expected to show up at the Billboard Music Awards 2023. Fans have taken to campaigning on the social media platform Twitter to share their excitement, either expecting him to perform or show up so wonderfully that he will be taking at least some awards home. The music platform had already set a date for the award ceremony back in March of 2023. It will be held on November 19, 2023.
The award winners are decided based on the chart statistics from November 19, 2022, through October 21, 2023. They also take into account audio and video streaming, album and song sales, radio airplay and touring. Considering this artist has been topping all of those above, the online excitement for his presence is not displaced among the ARMY and specific Jimin fans. His EP FACE consists of six tracks, including, Face-off, Interlude : Dive, Like Crazy, Alone, Set Me Free Pt 2 and Like Crazy (English Version).
