Tiku Weds Sheru Review: This dark satirical film with a dash of rom-com brings the lives of two quirky dreamers with a wish to hit it big in the city of dreams. Directed and written by Sai Kabir, the film is produced by actor Kangana Ranaut and stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur in lead roles.
The plot of Tiku Weds Sheru revolves around two eccentric characters who wish to make it big in the city of dreams- Mumbai. However, they soon find themselves surrounded by one problem after another which leads them to find something more meaningful in life.
The synopsis of the film reads:
Tiku Weds Sheru is a romantic-comedy about two quirky characters who dream of becoming film stars. While their romance blooms, they get caught between the chaos of the underworld, drugs, and face one tragedy after the other. Will their relationship survive the odds thrown at them?
-Tiku Weds Sheru Review Contains No Spoilers-
Tiku Weds Sheru begins with a glimpse of the starry-eyed Sheru (Nawazuddin Siddiqui), who sees himself as superstar material caught in the role of a junior artist who needs to do all it takes for him to survive. From being a pimp to having connections with gangsters, Sheru does not lose hope for a better life.
On the other hand, we have Tiku (Avneet Kaur) a young girl with dreams to reach Mumbai and fulfil her dreams of being a superstar. For this, she gets married to Sheru and makes her way to the city of dreams. However, the two find themselves in the deep waters of the glittering world where fulfilling their dreams is not as easy as they thought.

The film brings rom-com to a dark satirical plot which picks one of the dreamers in the city to show what their life could be like. The two share the same optimism and passion for Bollywood, however, they fail to see reality and this continues right until the end.
Hurdles and failure continue to come their way, but the two continue to play a very clean background character throughout the film. This background role that the leads of the film play is very well carried out and captures your attention in the otherwise weak plot.

There are also some cringe moments that the positivity and confidence of the two dreamers bring, however, these also ground their roles to reality. I personally like how the film does not go with the happy ending plot but brings a more realistic feel to the story. A dramatic ending is not for everyone, and this film sticks to that by letting go of the two dreamers in a beautiful manner.
Finally, there are moments when you would feel that the characters are trying too hard or that you are trying too hard to finish watching it until the end. It is not an easy watch, but it is also not as disappointing as you would expect it to be.

Summing Up: Tiku Weds Sheru Review
An interesting idea with a weak plot that could have been better because the cast did a good job in their roles. The film brings an artistic feel and tries to work on a deeper level with the idea but is unable to achieve it in that sense.
A little more work on the film could have brought us a better piece of art that had both entertainment and a plot. Altogether, the film was not a bad watch but is also something that I would not watch again. Also, not something that I would eagerly recommend but wouldn’t stop if you are curious about what happens.
