Social Currency: Is the “Top Influencer” Rivalry Real? Upcoming Netflix Reality Series to Dig Up Dirt and More

Living without one’s phone can be a haunting nightmare in the new age, especially for influencers who count on their means of Social Currency to make it to the top. The upcoming Indian Netflix reality series plans on pulling these modern age celebrities “Out of (their) phones, and into the real world”.

Created by Fazila Allana, Kamna Nirula Menezes, Chad Greulach, Sanvari Nair, Meghana Badola and directed by Sagar More under the banner of SOL Productions, the brand new reality title seeks to introduce a concept that goes beyond the usual dating scene captured on Netflix on countless occasions. Although being an influencer has turned out to be a Neo profession in today’s world, many among the general public stray away from its understanding. Therefore, by pushing the influencer personalities on the show to their limit, hopefully the forthcoming show will be able to portray the real crux of what it’s all about, or not. Only, time will tell.

Social Currency Cast

Trapped in a villa together for the first time, social media content creators Vagmita Singh, Sakshi Chopra, Ruhi Singh, Mridul Madhok, Parth Samthaan, Bhavin Bhanushali, Aakash Mehta, and Roshni Rai will be seen sharing the same roof in the show. Other than that, special cameos by Sunny Leone, Kusha Kapila, and Badshah will also featured in some of its episodes.

Social Currency Plot/Storyline

Daring to unravel and unpack the meaning of “try influence”, Social Currency will bring on 21 days of unprecedented challenges for the 8 influencer contestants in the race to win the ultimate title of the “Top Influencer”. The people who’ve been popping up on your Gram whenever you scroll through the application, will now be completed to take their online rivalry to a rather off-line and real world-like setting.

Pushing them to start from scratch, the show’s format will snatch away the contenders’ pre-existing well-established public platforms, embellished with verified blue ticks and cut down their following numbers back to zero, giving them a taste of what it was like for them at the very engining of their journey. The same journey will also end up decoding the negative thoughts of loneliness and insecurities that often clouded their judgement and pushed them into a dark corner. The ultimate goal of the show is to boast what each of these influencing figures are like in the real world, when taken away from their layers of filtered content.

As always, neglecting villa rules can cost them their spot in the race. The final winner aka the “Top Influencer” will also be winning a cash prize of Rs. 50 lakhs in the end.

Social Currency Release Date and Trailer
