Telenovelas tell some of the most interesting stories from Mexico, like The Surrogacy, also known as Madre de alquiler, which follows a woman being coerced into being a surrogate when she has no choice but to do that. All of these series employ social differences and dramatic irony in order to get the point across. Series like this also try to highlight societal inequalities and violence with comparison to privilege, which keeps the genre alive. For this series, the person in charge is Araceli Guajardo, who joins the crew as a creator and writer.
The Surrogacy Cast
This series stars Shani Lozano, Marcela Guirado, Leticia Calderón, Minnie West, Emmanuel Orenday, Luis Ernesto Franco, Alejandro de la Madrid, Camila Selser, Manuel Balbi, Fernanda Borches, Cecilia Toussaint, Omar Germenos, Giovanni Conconi and Miguel López Loredo, alongside other cast members. Jano Tellez serves as the camera operator, and Emiliano Lopez Coronado serves as the foley artist.
The Surrogacy Plot/Synopsis
In the trailer, we see the female protagonist harassed by a few people, and to defend herself, she shoots one of them. When the police come and pick them up, we see her father take all her blame. He gets sent to prison, and she is the one who has to deal with the consequences outside of the prison. He won’t be able to handle anything coming for him inside, so her priority is to make sure someone will free her father.
Meanwhile, a Mexican couple from an affluent family is looking to have a child, and they can only have a child through surrogacy. Enter our female protagonist, who has been looking for an out, and this arrangement will provide her with one. While everything goes extremely well in the beginning, and she even falls in love with someone in the family, the whole thing ends terribly when one of the babies is born with a disability. Sensing tension and some more conflict, the matriarch of the family banishes the girl with her child, and she is found stranded alone.

It is then that it is revealed that she had two kids because the embryo split into two. They kept the girl child, and she was left with the boy, fending for herself while there was no one to support her and remember the attackers from the beginning of the video?
