At the 76th Cannes Film Festival, many people are here to enjoy their time and watch films that will be screened for the first time in public. Similarly, Korean film and music industry members like BLACKPINK Jennie will also attend the festival. Some as ambassadors for a fashion brand, while others come as invited guests to have their films screened there. The KPop idol will be appearing at the festival, and she was also joined by her fellow band member Rosé, who was also present at the Strange Way of Life screening yesterday.
Why is BLACKPINK Jennie at Cannes 2023?
Apart from her talent at commanding a stage to make music, the artist is also skilled at commanding a camera. In accordance, she was given the opportunity to act in the popular and highly anticipated HBO Original titled The Idol starring Lily-Rose Depp and Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye. She will be present at the premiere of the series and will be attending the screening at the Cannes Film Festival 2023. She was invited back in April, but YG Entertainment had shared that her decision to attend or not attend hadn’t been made then.
When Will BLACKPINK Jennie Arrive at the Cannes Red Carpet?
Jennie will be making her red carpet debut at the premiere screening of the show she is featured in. Set to be screened on May 22, 2023, it is entirely possible that she will be making her appearance that morning itself. She has arrived in Cannes and made herself comfortable. However, it will be a few days before we see her come to the carpet and make an official appearance. Her bandmate Rosé, however, was on the red carpet this morning, attending the premiere of the film Monster by the Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda.

When and Where Will The Idol Be Screened?
According to the official programme schedule, the series will be screened at the Grand Théâtre Lumière on May 22, 2023, from 10:30 PM to 12:16 AM CEST in Cannes, French Riviera. The show will star Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp as main characters, along with supporting cast members including Jennie Ruby Jane, Troye Sivan, Hank Azaria, Suzanna Son, Rachel Sennott, Dan Levy, Sophie Mudd, Anne Heche, Hari Nef, Mike Dean, Eli Roth, and Moses Sumney.
It will follow the pop idol Jocelyn as her music tour gets derailed by an incident. In an attempt to go back to the top, she befriends Tedros, a nightclub impresario who is also a secret cult leader. This series explores her journey to the top and the descent into loss, insanity and pain that this life brings.

Recently, the pop star has been in the news for her rumoured relationship with the BTS band member Kim Taehyung also known as V. She has been spotted walking with the vocalist in France wearing hats and full-sleeved clothing. Consequently, Twitter picked up on this and ran with it, even coining the hashtag’ #TAENNIE.’ Fans have taken over the narrative, with some of them even trying to confirm whether it is real or fake.
