Amygdala MV has been finally released after the track was unveiled a few days ago with the album D-Day. Being the fourth track on the album, Haegeum was released as the title track on 21st April which showcased two alternating personalities of the artist. Previously, a pre-release track People Pt 2 was released in collaboration with IU and thus, it marks the third music video from the same album.

With 10 tracks in total, Amygdala is the fourth track, while the others are – D-Day, Haegeum, Huh?!, SDL, People Pt.2, Polar Night, Interlude: Dawn, Snooze, and Life Goes On. Even before the release of the video, fans were moved by the emotional and deep lyrics of the song, which made everyone all the more curious about the MV.
The video starts off with the BTS member lying in a pitch-dark room with a visible sofa and a few elements that can be seen in a living room. The colours used are usually black, white and grey as Agust D is also wearing a grey outfit. As the lyrics of the song start, the scene changes to outside, where he is seen wearing a helmet and going somewhere on his motorbike, which is used by delivery agents.
In the lyrics, we can hear the singer reminiscing about the time when things weren’t going so well in his life. From family issues to his own struggle with the accident, he did whatever was the best choice he had at the time. Yet he finds himself locked with those painful memories and even if he wants to he isn’t able to escape.

Even visually, as he reaches the open door, it closes and stops him from getting out of there. In the chorus, he asks his Amygdala – the part of the brain which processes our emotional memories & is responsible for our fight-or-flight response, to save him aka take him out of his memories & not let him dwell in them. It was also reported that the artist wanted to compare Amygdala with his fans ARMYs, who helped him get out of his dark memories in the early years of his career.
Suga has been vocal about his struggles with depression and anxiety, which have been addressed in his previous mixtapes Agust D & D-2 as well. Similarly, in this track, the singer and songwriter wish to not dwell in the past painful memories and hope to bloom like a lotus flower once again. The significance of the lotus flower here is that even though it grows in muddy water, it grows up & blooms beautifully without getting stained by its dirty surrounding.
Just like that Agust D wants to overcome his struggles and become stronger. He wants to gather enough strength and courage to be able to rise above all the negative thoughts & feelings, to save himself – just like we see at the end of the music video. Although he tries to save himself, he doesn’t seem to escape in the video but the singer hopes that he will eventually.
