Smother-in-Law Season 2 Ending Explained: What Happens to Isadir After Carlos Leaves?

Netflix’s range of sitcoms is expanding beyond the English language, and the Smother-in-Law Season 2 ending explained shares exactly what went down this season. This series stars Rodrigo Sant’anna, Pedro Ottoni, Bárbara Sut, Lidi Lisboa, Solange Teixeira, Ney Lima, Daniela Fontan, Rafael Zulu and Thaissa Carvalho alongside other cast members. Rodrigo Sant’anna also joins the crew as the programme creator. This show contains ten episodes, each ranging from 20-25 minutes.

Also known as A Sogra Que Te PariuSmother-in-Law follows the life of Isadir, who moves in with her son and daughter-in-law during the pandemic, meddling in their private lives.

Smother-in-Law Season 2 Ending Explained

When the season starts, we see Isadir still living in the family home along with Carlos and Alice. The latter is now pregnant and is holding a gender reveal party just as her mother-in-law comes out of prison. They all go shopping for things, and even though the decoration plan gets taken over by Isadir, the family seems to be coping well with that. What they don’t cope with so well is the barrage of guests in their house lurking around and causing chaos in a place that is not theirs.

In the end, the egg found in the mocota juice reveals the baby to be a boy, and the family rejoices. Isadir will still remain at this home because her roof collapsed. Following this, she tries to find a way to make sure that she is bringing in some income so she can buy some things for her family. In doing so, she starts a sales workshop, inducting people into her community of thriftiness. However, it all backfires when they find out that she was the one who knocked down an older woman to get condensed milk.

People have started protesting outside, and this situation gets only more viral as people enjoy this knockout moment. The next instalment shows the family struggling to have everyone around simultaneously because Isadir is officially annoying people to their limits, and the suitcase stealing only compounds it. Alice and Isadir exchange suitcases which puts a big dent in the former’s reputation, something she absolutely abhors.

Choosing to send her away, Carlos and Alice allow Isadir to take a road trip with her friends. The only thing he warns her about is not eating the German Chocolate pie that will come in soon. While Isadir initially agrees to it, her friends all get roped into this pie party when it is delivered, leaving nothing for Alice. The episode ends with the older ladies all getting a live strip show from one of Flavinho’s friends. Now that Alice’s due date keeps getting closer and closer, the doctor shows up to do a routine check-up.

When Isadir looks at him, she is reminded of her time at Carnaval 1985, where she slept with a bunch of men and started getting suspicious about how her son Carlos may have been conceived there. Meanwhile, the doctor also seems to have been there simultaneously, and the coincidences start aligning too much. To uncover the truth, she asks her granddaughter Marcia to do a DNA test, and it is later found that the doctor is infertile himself.

Alice also gives birth to her son in this episode and names him Noah, except Isadir has been calling him Jorginho, and it has been terrorising the couple. They wanted a normal name for their child, and now their mother-in-law expects them to keep a different name other than the one he was given. Isadir even tries to give him two names, but the couple remains unaccepting of this change. The gas in their house has stopped working because of the construction, which forces them to move to their mother’s friend’s place.

The lack of luxury and amenities satiates Carlos, but Alice seems unimpressed and gets home the next day only to find that the gas is still not working. Compounded with this, the family has to face yet another scandal because Isadir sold a popular footballer’s nude image on social media and invited legal chaos to her home. They all eventually came to an agreement, but before that, it seemed perfectly plausible that she would be going to prison.

Meanwhile, online virality has been getting Isadir to do some fun things while also gaining some money, which she uses to buy things for her newly arrived grandson. Even though the gifts are underwhelming, the chaos brought on by all the gifts Isadir has received moves her to stop this endeavour. Isadir may care enough for her grandson to buy gifts but is also careless enough to leave him at the park while she is fighting with the other moms. Eventually, the foreign nanny returns the kid, but not before things go horribly wrong for her at home.

Things have started to become weird because there are boxes around the house, and Isadir has no idea what is happening. However, everyone else knows that Carlos is moving to Sao Paulo for a new job. She feels so left out that she tries to find some solace in Navalho, the man she had an affair with in prison. However, he is married to a powerful gang leader who is ready to break the bones of anyone here to take him away. Eventually, she manages to escape within an inch of her life and makes her way to the bus approaching Sao Paulo.
