Extrapolations Episode 6, titled 2066: Lola, brings back the character Ezra from Episode 2 and a sci-fi love story that is relatable and heartwarming. Created by Scott Z. Burns, the Apple series focuses on the future world on the brink of destruction due to climate change. The series is produced by Burns, Gregory Jacobs, Dorothy Fortenberry, and Media Res’ Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer.

In the second episode, we saw the story of Rebecca Shearer, the scientist who worked with the last whale and her son Ezra with a summer heart health condition. In the sixth episode, we focus on the grown-up Ezra’s life story and the futuristic update in mankind. Ezra marries his sweetheart Lola who also has a summer heart condition. However, Ezra, with the help of an experimental cure, gets rid of his health issues, but sadly, Lola suffers from it and, ultimately, dies along with their child in her womb.
Fast forward, Ezra is now trying to live with Lola’s memories stored in a device called Cache Cloud which is very expensive. Additionally, Ezra also works as a person who impersonates an identity to help people who have lost their loved ones or need closure. He literally changes his sexual orientation and appearance according to the client’s needs.
Back to the Cache cloud, Ezra is asked to pay extra, or he should delete some of his memories. This makes him struggle since he needs all the memories but, at the same time, isn’t able to afford the money. Ezra is also going strong with the client Natasha and her daughter Harlyn. He helps Natasha heal and get closure by acting as her husband David. However, later he learns that David isn’t dead but has moved to the USA and started another family.

Soon, Ezra learns that he has vascular dementia and that his cognitive abilities are failing. Despite these issues, Ezra still continues to help people by taking input from the memories of people, acting like them, and helping his clients. We’re then left with Ezra exceeding his cache cloud space, and now he is forced to rely on his organic memory, which fails. He then hires a Lola stand-in, but due to her tattoo, he is unable to get an experience with her.
Meanwhile, Cache Cloud employee Janice keeps nagging Ezra to pay the money or delete his memories. In all this heat, he decides to delete every memory except those with the keyword “Lola.” Hence, Ezra forgets everything about his mother and grandmother. Additionally, an earthquake hits that worsens the servers. Ultimately, Ezra also loses memories about clients’ needs. This pressures him to rely on his own memory about his clients and help them.
Extrapolations Episode 6 Ending
In a desperate situation, Ezra turns to his neighbor, but his experience goes terrible. Finally, he goes to Natasha, and they both share an intimate moment. But Ezra ruins it by asking her for money for the night he spent with her. After failing with another client who demands him to be punched in his face, Ezra returns to Natasha only to get bashed. But when he explains to her about his mess, Natasha suggests a solution.
She explains that both David and Lola aren’t going to come back, so it is best if they both start a new life together. This changes Ezra’s perspective. When he returns to his apartment, his neighbor (with whom his experience went miserable) starts to threaten Ezra that if he doesn’t pay up, he will leak Lola’s images. Ezra, however, doesn’t bother about it.
At the end of the episode, we see Ezra, Natasha, and Harlyn walking together inside a mall. The viewers see a Menagerie2100 billboard announcing the whale’s return (the one Rebecca saved) and an Exowomb advertisement having Lola’s image for promotion.
Final Thoughts
This particular episode is actually one of the best so far since it showed how people could become messed up after losing their loved ones. The sci-fi touch on losing the memories of a beloved and the fight to save it can make the viewers relate. The actors have done a brilliant job of expressing the heartbreaking emotions, especially when the memories are giving up. Episode 6 is definitely a great watch!
