GOT7’s Jinyoung is all set to enrol in the South Korean military for his mandatory enlistment soon. According to sources, he will be enlisting as an active soldier. BH Entertainment, the company that the artist is managed under, has also confirmed the news. Rumours had been floating around for a long time; however, it has finally been confirmed.
The artist’s fans are devastated by the news as he will be away for a long time. For an active-duty soldier, the enlistment period is approximately 1 year and 6 months. He will remain out of the spotlight for the allotted time period as he will be busy fulfilling his obligations. Even though the fandom was aware that he would be leaving, they are still finding it hard to come to terms with the event.
Jinyoung has been preparing for his enlistment steadily, one step at a time. Earlier this year, he officially released his debut as a solo album. He released his mini album on January 18, 2023, called CHAPTER 0: WITH. Cotton Candy serves as the title track for the extended play. It consists of four b-side tracks: Animal, Our Miracle, Sleep Well and Letter.
Additionally, the singer held a fan concert in his home country. Following the release of his solo album, he announced a fan meeting event called ‘Rendezvous in Seoul: Secret meeting between you and me’. The event was held on January 28-29, 2023, where he met his domestic and international fans. The artist has also completed shooting for his upcoming K-drama series, Witches. It will be premiered soon after his enlistment on Disney+.

BH Entertainment has revealed that the artist will be enlisting next month. Jinyoung will be officially entering the South Korean military on May 8, 2023.
The artist is known for his many talents, songwriting and acting being a few of them. He started his acting career with A Stray Goat in 2016, and after much persistence, he landed the lead role in He Is Psychometric in 2019. However, he gained immense popularity from his role in The Devil Judge, which premiered in 2019. He made his big-screen debut with Christmas Carol on December 7, 2022.
The 28-year-old artist has been part of the popular K-pop band GOT7 since 2014 under JYP Entertainment. The group is composed of 7 members. Apart from Jinyoung, others include: Jay B, Mark, Jackson, Youngjae, BamBam, and Yugyeom. However, the group’s activities halted temporarily after the members decided to switch companies, including himself. After parting ways with JYPE, the singer signed a new contract with BH Entertainment in November 2022.
