Copycat Killer (模仿犯) is an upcoming Mandarin thriller drama series that will be releasing on Netflix. Directed by Henri Chang and Henri Chang, the story surrounds a serial killer who takes advantage of the media to forecast his gruesome killings and turn the ruthless cases into a national spectacle.
The series is a live-action adaptation of the popular crime novel Mohou-han (模倣犯) by Miyabe Miyuki. With a total of ten episodes, the show will have a runtime of approximately 45-50 minutes.

The series will consist of an ensemble cast of talented actors such as Chris Wu will appear in the lead role as Guo Xiao Qi alongside Ko Chia Yen as Hu Yun Hui, Tuo Chung Hua as Lin Shan Yong, Jack Yao as Chen He Ping, Fandy Fan as Shen Jia Wen, Cammy Chiang as Lu Yi Zhen, Xia Teng Hong as Hu Jian He and more. Ruby Lin as Yao Ya Ci, will be making a guest appearance.
Copycat Killer Plot
The plot will particularly follow a serial killer and his cold-hearted tales of crimes. The criminal announces his ruthless homicides through the media channels. Hence, a game of cat and mouse between the authorities and the murderer ensues. Including using the media as his personal broadcasting channel, he also uses it to manipulate his victims, the police and the public altogether.
In the trailer, the killer hacks into the system of a media channel and starts to take over the broadcasting. He begins to ask unusual and eerie questions that make everyone rethink their moral grounds. However, he uses a system to distort his voice to keep his identity safe. It indicates that the psychotic killer is highly intelligent and will require more than physical power to bring him down. It also suggests that he likes to make a spectacle out of his ‘conquests’ and enjoys the attention he receives.
Moreover, the killer is seen wearing a white mask which is crucial to his identity. He leaves several shreds of evidence and clues for the police in form of gifts to mock them, but those packages do not contain any valuable information. Many victims become his prey, and he shows it off like achievements in form of video clips. Will the cops be able to uncover his true identity?
