– Extrapolations Review Contains No Spoilers –
The first episode, titled 2037, starts with a young activist pointing out that climate change is real and that the earth must be saved. We are introduced to Nick Bilton (Kit Harrington), a multimillionaire CEO of Alpha company who includes all major tech firms, pharmacies, and so much more. In the first episode, we are introduced to all eight protagonists through whom we will witness the hardships of the future dying earth.
In this episode, we can witness that by 2037, the earth is facing mass extinction of species, the sea level has risen, the temperature spiked, and the people are trying their best to cross through the burdens. The second episode, titled 2046, introduces another set of stories, such as a couple wondering whether they should have a baby since the living conditions on earth are not in their best shape. We also see another story where a scientist called Rebecca communicated with a humpback whale to preserve the knowledge since the whale is the only existing one out of its species.

Moving on, the third episode, called 2047, takes us to view the further damages happening on earth, like ice caps melting, storms, and such. Technically each episode, as per its title, shows us the possible calamities the people will face. We also see the characters discussing bible stories starting from the Torah to Noah’s ark.
Extrapolations Explores the Future From Protagonists’ Lens
The best part about the series is that we get to see different people and their thoughts about the living condition they’re facing. It’s very creative to represent different time periods/years in each episode with different calamities and characters. When we hear the protagonists’ discussion on the Bible and the calamity, we can see how the picture is drawn realistically. The conversations feel real, replicating people fearing the end days based on scriptures if they’re religious.
Then there is the humpback whale scene, where the protagonist’s main aim is to preserve the knowledge of the whale. She isn’t seen discussing any religious beliefs or is seen blaming rich people like the activists. Each character’s different storyline makes the series promising and relatable.

We can see how rich people who know they’re damaging the earth are still willing to proceed because they believe they will soon die and won’t be struggling. Then there are kids who are put at stake because they didn’t harm the earth but still have to live through their ancestors’ mistakes.
Thanks to the editing team, the possible destructions were vividly shown via CGI effects, which is mindblowing. Looking at such visuals proves that we’re nearing a deadly future, and it’s high time to notice it.
Extrapolations Final Thoughts
It’s definitely worth the watch. It might seem a tad bit boring since the characters discuss a lot, but that’s the point of the series. It’s meant to educate and not entertain.
