Outer Banks Season 3 premiered on February 23, 2023, on Netflix. Created by Shannon Burke, Jonas Pate, and Josh Pate, the plot of the series surrounds John B and his friends entangled in dangerous situations following his father’s disappearance that is linked to a treasure hunt.
Starring Chase Stokes as John B in the lead role alongside Madelyn Cline, Madison Bailey, J.D, Rudy Pankow, Charles Esten, Austin North, Drew Starkey and more. The show consists of ten episodes with a total runtime of 50-55 minutes each.

Outer Banks Season 3 Ending Explained
After John B reunited with his father, they set out on another treasure hunt, and this time they were on a mission to discover the city of gold, El Dorado. However, the expedition was not easy, as they encountered multiple problems along the way. The group (minus Kiara and JJ) reaches South America to save John B’s father from Mr Singh’s house, where he was held hostage.
The two mortal enemies, Ward and Big John came face to face yet again. They both get into a heated argument, accusing each other of betrayal. Finally, Ward part ways with John B, Big John and Sarah, who continue their journey to find the lost treasure.
Did John B, Big John and Sarah figure out the path?
The three of them trekked inside the deep evergreen forest where the city of gold was located. After much effort, they arrive at a location where they receive a major clue directing them towards El Dorado. The riddle was quickly solved, and as they were about to head onto the next location, Mr Singh and his men surrounded them. Ward was the one who informed Singh about their location. This led to a gunfight where several of Singh’s men were killed, and the three escaped the scene safely.
Following the clues, they reached a cave situated deep inside the forest, possibly leading to El Dorado. Singh did not give up yet, as he desperately looked for them all over the area. Meanwhile, the rest of the group planned to meet up with John B and Sarah.
Were John B and Sarah Able to Find El Dorado?
John B and Sarah continued the search, and Big John, on the other hand, remained outside the cave. After walking several meters and overcoming countless obstacles, the couple reached El Dorado. The area was completely covered with gold, and it shined brightly. Both John B and Sarah rejoiced upon their successful expedition. They carried several gold rocks inside their backpack and left the scene.
However, since they only had one flare left, they decided to exit the area safely, but to their surprise, Singh was waiting for them outside the cave. Singh threatened to kill John B if Big John refused to cooperate. However, Big John helped his son and Sarah escape by lighting up a stick of dynamite which destroyed the cave and Mr Singh along with it.
What happened to Ward and Big John?
When they rushed outside the cave, Ward awaited them outside. He threatened to kill both John B and Big John but dropped the gun when Sarah convinced him to do so. However, they were not out of danger yet, as Singh’s lackey appeared with a gun pointed towards them. Ward saved the entire group by sacrificing himself in front of the shooter.
On the other hand, Big John also sustained a serious injury, and due to lack of medical assistance, he died inside the forest.
