Let us check out Ganglands Season 1 Recap ahead of the new season’s premiere. Created by Hamid Hlioua and Julien Leclercq, the show surrounds a proficient robber who gets entangled in a series of dangerous events after his niece robs a drug dealer. Julien Leclercq directs the series.
Starring Sami Bouajila and Tracy Gotoas as the lead actors alongside Sofia Lesaffre, Salim Kechiouche, Noureddine Farihi, Geert Van Rampelberg, Nabiha Akkari and more. Wim and Vanswijgenhoven are the cinematographers, and Lucas de Moidrey and Jeanne Trellu give the music. The show contains six episodes with a runtime of approximately 45-50 minutes each.

Ganglands Season 1 Recap
The first episode opens with Mehdi and his heavily armed group robbing a gold refinery. Meanwhile, the scene shifts to a sex worker, Shaïnez entering a secluded room. It is soon revealed that the woman is pretending and loots a man in daylight along with her partner, Liana. The woman accidentally drops her ID card in the room as they rush to leave the area. They find a huge amount of cocaine inside the stolen bag and decide to sell it. Unfortunately, a few men break into Shaïnez’s house and kidnap her.
Enraged and confused, Shaïnez’s mother rushes to meet with her brother Mehdi and blames him for the incident. But she soon finds out that both the girls stole cocaine from a ruthless drug dealer, Saber. Mehdi and Saber negotiate a deal through which both parties will be satisfied. After much effort along with Liana, Mehdi successfully retrieves the drugs and travels to the meeting spot.
Upon arrival at the site, Saber does not fulfil his part of the deal. He puts another task on Liana and Mehdi, and only after the completion will he safely release Shaïnez. The task was to steal a truckload of cocaine from his competitor Chris and deliver it to Saber. Mehdi and his crew and Liana’s group join forces for the heist. They hijack the truck after holding the driver’s wife hostage and bring the drug safely to the warehouse, but Modi gets shot and is caught by Chris’ men.
The crew reaches the negotiation area where the exchange will occur, but a shootout between both parties occurs due to miscommunication. However, Mehdi manages to bring his niece back home. On the other hand, Chris quickly finds out who stole the drugs and threatens Sofia to return them safely. Hassan is infuriated with Saber, which leads him to break every relationship with his son.
Sofia urges Hassan to deny the drug robbery to Chris since there is no evidence to back up the accusation. But she lies to Chris that Hassan planned to keep the drug to himself, which creates tensions between both criminal empires. Meanwhile, Hassan’s bodyguard kills Modi to erase every proof, and Liana witnesses the murder, which leads to another shootout, and Mehdi comes to her rescue. The police arrest Hassan, and they are tipped off by his son, Saber.
Mehdi gets a call from Sofia to break out Hassan and murder him in exchange for his family’s safety. He agrees to the prison break but denies killing the man. So, Sofia turns to Chris to complete the final task and tells him not to hurt Mehdi and his family. However, Chris double-crosses her and orders his men to murder both Hassan and Mehdi. A few men are sent to Mehdi’s house, where Shaïnez and her mother hide.
Saber appears on time and successfully rescues his father. But at the same time, Chris’ men kill Mehdi’s family and Liana’s crew. A few men were also sent to kill Mehdi’s crew, and only Tony survives. Tony and Liana join forces to steal the money from Chris, and soon after, the police arrive to capture him. After five months, Liana appears in the hospital, where Mehdi is detained, and she helps to break him out of the facility.
Ganglands Season 1 is now streaming on Netflix. Season 2 will be released on February 17, 2023.
