The Last of Us Episode 1 Twitter Reactions: Fans Approve Show’s Fidelity to the Source

The game adaptation is finally here, so here are The Last of Us Episode 1 Twitter Reactions. The HBOMax series is a direct adaptation of the video game of the same title. The Last of Us stars Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Gabriel Luna, Nick Offerman, and Merle Dandridge, alongside other cast members. The show is written and executive produced by Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann. It is based on an unforgettable survival game, which is why most people are hanging on the hope that this game will be better than other adaptations.

HBOMax’s synopsis of the series reads, “The Last of Us takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.” Pedro Pascal plays the character Joel and follows his journey through grief and loss, as he has to navigate a widespread pandemic as well.

Things have gotten out of hand when a pandemic that was predicted years ago finally seems to have made an appearance in our protagonists’ vicinity. When they try to get away to go to a safe place, they are stopped by SWAT members who don’t hesitate to gun them down. In this chaos, Joel’s daughter dies in what becomes the emotional linchpin of the episode. The inciting event for the next incidents.

Cut to 2028, Joel is now a jaded adult doing some smuggling and important work with the Quarantine Zone. Joel’s son Tommy hasn’t been replying, so he and Tess decide to look for him and get some revenge on someone named Robert. In the attempts to complete their job against Robert, they come across Ellie, chained in the QZ by the Fireflies. Taking her with them, they leave the QZ. However, in a raid, Tess and Joel find out that Ellie is infected, but nothing has happened to her. This is where the episode ends.
