Woman of the Dead: All About Anna Maria Mühe’s Upcoming Mystery Crime Thriller on Netflix

Woman of the Dead (Totenfrau) is an upcoming Austrian mystery crime thriller set to be released on Netflix, this week. The series is created by Barbara Stepansky, Wolfgang Mueller, Benito Mueller and written along with Mike Majzen, as well as directed by Nicolai Rohde. It is produced by Barry Films, Mona Film Produktion GmbH, Co-produced by SquareOne Productions and is based on Bernhard Aichner’s book series of the same name.

The story is about the lengths a passionate woman will go to for vengeance after her husband’s death and the tug-of-war between good and evil that exists in all of us. The lead is said to be one of the strong characters who is an unconditionally loving wife and mother as well as a ruthless predator.

The cast of the series includes Anna Maria Mühe, Yousef Sweid, Hans-Uwe Bauer, Felix Klare, Emilia Pieske, Lilian Rosskopf, Romina Küper, Simon Schwarz, Sebastian Hülk, Shenja Lacher, Gregor Bloéb, Robert Palfrader and Michou Friesz.

Woman of the Dead Plot/Synopsis

The official synopsis of the series reads, “In a vengeful quest to find out who killed her husband, a woman ends up exposing her small community’s deepest and ugliest secrets.” Blum is the owner of a funeral home in a renowned ski resort and the loving mother of two young children. Following her husband’s accidental death, she is shaken to the very core of her existence.

Soon, Blum realizes that her husband was murdered because he was in the process of uncovering terrible secrets. She sets out on a quest for revenge, but during her pursuit, she turns from predator to prey. In the release trailer, Blum receives sympathy from the community who tells her that this is all god’s will, but do they have good intentions – is not clear.

While her daughter questions Blum’s affection for her father and asks if dealing with dead bodies all day has made her so numb from death. From then on starts the quest to figure out what really happened to her husband but it looks like she might land in the same trouble, if not cautious.
