The Thunivu trailer is here and if action movies are big, this is bigger. Imagine the bank hostage situation from Free Guy and make it a hundred times more intense. Starring Ajith Kumar, Manju Warrier, Samuthrakani, John Kokken, Veera, Bucks and others, the film is a highly anticipated release for this movie season already garnering 30 million views in the first 24 hours of its release.
What starts as a mellow trailer with some guitar strings plucked in the background, quickly shifts to incorporate Ajith Kumar’s presence as he walks into the bank. After several rounds of gunshots and arbitrary chaos, we come face to face with our hero. This heist film already sets itself apart by its nonchalance and the morally grey main character holding no remorse for his actions. The film is directed by H Vinoth known for his films like Valimai and Nerkonda Paarvai and is produced by Boney Kapoor, who has produced films like Mili, Mr. India, Mom and other chart-topping projects.

This is also the time we get introduced to Manju Varrier, pointing two guns and shooting out an unseen opponent. The trailer also cuts to snippets showing politicians and businessmen whining as Samuthrakani’s character makes a poignant observation about the media glorifying criminals. If the guns weren’t enough, there are now multiple explosions and jetskis blown up in the water. The Thunivu trailer making its mark on audiences already.

While we still don’t know the motivations behind this bank robbery, it hasn’t stopped us from siding with the perpetrator of said robbery. Stacked cash, dumbfounded police officers and politicians have become truly entangled in this colossal mess. Thunivu shows us how the political system is deeply colluding with the business world, protecting the interests of the rich while the poor get robbed. Apart from the wild goose chase spanning air, water and land, we see Ajith Kumar wearing a policeman’s bulletproof vest, raising some other important questions about the character’s past and his reasons for this violent move.

What remains to be seen is if Kumar’s character is caught by the authorities or does he succeed in his efforts to steal as much money from the bank as possible. Well, we can all find that out when the film comes to the theatres on January 11, 2023. Thunivu’s final trailer is just the beginning of what promises to be a thrilling and equally gratifying film.
