Call Me Chihiro Trailer: Kasumi Arimura Teaches to Live Life on Your Own Terms

Call Me Chihiro Trailer reveals Kasumi Arimura in her first Netflix drama film, set to be released next year. It is directed by Rikiya Imaizumi (Just Only Love, His, and Little Nights, Little Love) & the screenplay is co-written by Kaori Sawai. The film is based on the manga Chihiro-san by Hiroyuki Yasuda, published in the manga magazine Elegance Eve from 2013 to 2018.

It tells the story of a former sex worker named Chihiro who works at a small bento shop in a seaside town. There, she interacts with people whose mental scars and struggles leave them unable to live happily, and her words and actions influence each person’s way of living.

The cast of the film includes Kasumi Arimura as Chihiro, Hana Toyoshima as Kuniko Seo, Tetta Shimada as Makoto Satake, van as Basil, Ryuya Wakaba as Taniguchi, Yui Sakuma as Hitomi, Itsuki Nagasawa as Chinatsu Ube, Miwako Ichikawa, Keiichi Suzuki, Toshie Negishi as Nagai, Mitsuru Hirata as Bito, Lily Franky as Utsumi and Jun Fubuki as Tae.

In the trailer, we see that Chihiro used to work as a prostitute. She happened to stop by a seaside town and have a bento meal there at Noko Noko Bento. She loved the meal so much, she decided to settle down in the seaside town and work at the bento shop. She now greets customers with a smile and makes small talk with them.

She doesn’t even hide her past and talks with customers and the residents of the town, about various problems. It is through their conversations, they are comforted by her. However, Chihiro herself suffers from loneliness, which is related to her family and childhood. But through her acquaintances with various people, she also faces her loneliness and tries to change her life for the better.

She advises everyone to live as their heart desires and the world will change accordingly. But does she truly believes in it herself? We will have to find out, as Chihiro will take us on a healing journey where she will learn about herself and help others as well, in the process.
