Fate The Winx Saga starts off with our main character, Bloom (a fire fairy) landing up in Alfea- a magical school for Fairies and Specialists located in one of the other realms. At the campus, Bloom meets Stella (a light fairy, her mentor for the campus tour as well as her suitemate) and Sky (a specialist in training). She also gets introduced to her other roommates Aisha (water fairy), Terra (earth fairy) and Musa (mind fairy), who are fairies with their own unique powers. Soon enough it is revealed that Bloom’s parents are human and are not aware of Bloom being a fairy or at Alfea.
Bloom is enrolled on the school by headmistress Dowling on finding out that she is a fairy. The clarification given to Bloom is that she might have a dormant fairy gene in her ancestry which is why she has the powers of a fire fairy. However, Bloom is still very new to the entire thing and has difficulty wielding her powers. In fact, in a flashback, we see that she is responsible for burning down her house and almost harming her parents.
With the arrival of all the new fairies and specialists at the school, there is an orientation party that Bloom does not enjoy much, leading her to cross the protective barrier of the school and step outside into the woods. While practising her magic there, she loses control. However, Aisha saves her using her water magic but, does not miss out on mentioning that Bloom could be a changeling due to her magical capacity.

This exposition leaves Bloom disturbed which is when she plans to leave the realm and visit the First World (the world of humans) using a ring Stella offers her. But, while returning from the First World to Alfea, she is attacked by a Burned One- a demonic presence assumed to be extinct for ages. She is reduced by Dowling and her roommates but loses her ring.
On realizing Bloom has lost her ring, Stella manipulates Bloom, Terra and Sky to help her retrieve it. On their hunt to find the ring, the group finds Sliva, a Specialist trainer, injured by the Burned One. Terra tries to treat him as Bloom is knocked by the voices of the Burned One in her head. However, with Aisha’s help, she is able to defeat the Burned One and get Stella’s ring back. Silva is brought back to the academy for treatment.
Meanwhile, a new, mysterious student named Beatrix arrives at the academy and gets involved with one of the trainee specialists called Riven. She is seen searching Dowling’s office and finding a secret passage which turns out to be locked.
Bloom soon is graced by the dream of a woman telling her to look for her. She confronts Dowling after finding a picture of that woman to which the headmistress reveals that it is a woman named Rosalind, who happened to be Dowling’s mentor and is now dead. However, she is not aware of how Bloom and Rosalind are connected. Bloom’s romance with Sky tightens but, Stella’s past actions scare her into getting too much involved with her ex-boyfriend. As Silva’s condition worsen, it is apparent that there is more than one Burned One out there.
But, the situation is taken care of when Bloom and her friends fight off a Burned One with the help of Dowling which results in Silva getting better. Meanwhile, Beatrix finds a way to get into the secret passage by killing Dowling’s assistant in the process. It is revealed that the secret passage leads to a place where Rosalind is kept captive. The death of Dowling’s assistant creates a ruffle as Queen Luna, Stella’s mother visits the school, who is not happy with Stells’s performance and decides to pull her out.
On the other hand, we see Bloom joining hands with Beatrix to find out more about Rosalind which leads them to a place called Aster Dell. Beatrix shares with Bloom that it is the land where Dowling and her allies committed some heinous crimes of killing people alongside the Burned Ones. She also reveals that the happening of Aster Dell took place 2 days before Bloom’s birth indicating that Bloom’s biological parents are from Aster Dell and were murdered.
